Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yep, Api has been a damn good captain for the club. Came aboard in somewhat dubious circumstances after that drunken comment after Penrith GF win, but has worked hard, led by example and has tried hard to lift standards. Cant ask anymore than that as a captain. Improvement as a club will be both due to coaching and leadership on the field. Api's got one of those covered.
The shit he copped for that was so over the top. It was a joke, but it’s not it wasn’t true. It had no bearing on his commitment. Unlike Papali’i who for some bizarre reason would not commit to the club even after he signed, and even said this year he was going to reassess his options next year like he’s off contract when he isn’t. Api is just about the only true professional in the squad. Him as captain is not even an argument.

Below is an excerpt from the full article.

Outcomes will be either ... a) Nofa has lost the playing group & has to go or b) Nofa will work extra hard to earn the respect back of his team mates & return to full fitness.

While Nofoaluma was back training at Concord on Monday, the drama is far from over.

The club has tried desperately hard to keep Nofoaluma happy but the two parties remain at odds over what constitutes an acceptable attitude to playing and training.

There are suggestions that the unrest between Nofoaluma and his teammates and coaching staff remains.

Some teammates are even telling their agents that they hope Nofoaluma considers leaving.

He has two years remaining at Concord but his future at the club remains largely uncertain.

Club insiders wouldn’t prevent Nofoaluma from leaving if he found another club.

Wests Tigers have made a number of strange decisions in recent years but well-placed sources claim the club has acted appropriately and professionally with Nofoaluma.

Privately, teammates believe Nofoaluma should train harder rather than complain to the RLPA.

Nofoaluma and head coach Benji Marshall are known to be close although the club was unimpressed with Nofoaluma’s fitness levels.

Then how come he's been playing 2nd division rugby in NZ for the past 2 years?

I understand he took time out to deal with stuff, but if he's so talented why didn't one of the bigger rugby clubs take a gamble on him over this time?

Ultimately Tuiaki went from club rugby, to NSW Cup prop to NRL winger in about 12 months. But yeah the likes of Warbrick, Radarara and Sivo all took at least a year in NSW Cup to acclimatise.

Would have preferred to give him a development contract. That's what they're for - gambles on players who may or may not make it. Were there that many other clubs after him that we had to offer top 30?
Mate your right. He was very quick 4 years ago, i hope he has still got his pace.

People blowing up at that need to grow up a bit. Completely harmless and true. I'm sure 99% of people would have the same reaction (maybe not publicly I guess) about the Tigers (even the club's fans)

Not interested in 2025 (too far away ) but for 2024 taking into account all the signings ,rumoured signings and possible signings as well as probable departures what kind of 1st grade backline are we likely to have round 1 ?
Love our No1 Bula and think Toa and Tupou will get a run whos likely to be our
No's 1-7 ?
IMO we have enough decent forwards but what about a backline ? Thoughts ?
