Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The Mole is saying Sullivan and Fainu are both injured and the 5/8 position is Galvins to lose to start the year… obviously don’t take it too serious coming from that guy, but has anyone heard about the injuries?

Quote from Mole
‘But the youngster, labelled by those in the know as the next Nathan Cleary, has been fast-tracked into the top side at five-eighth following injuries to new signings Latu Fainu and Jayden Sullivan.’

Ive heard similar things about Steve Waugh.
Sounds like a self-important knob.
Doesn’t seem like my kinda guy
I remember when I was 12, I was at a golf tournament with my uncle. We were walking through the car park, when suddenly here’s Greg Norman and his security guard walking towards us. I had a cap and texta and approached him. To which his bodyguard promptly ushered me away, while Norman didn’t even acknowledge my existence. That same day mind you, Gary Player was there, surrounded by about 20-30 people, signing autographs and having a laugh. His son kept telling him they had to leave to catch their flight and Player kept ignoring him. Class act of a man and 10 times the player Norman ever was. Yet Norman is the arrogant one. Go figure.

Ok move ON.

Look you are right, and also wrong. As one commentator said re Nofa "he scored 2 tries but possibly costed his side 3."... Nofa is like a car a friend had. 3 cylinder 5 speed manual snot mobile. In it's own way awesome, in all ways best left in the past. *

Let Nofa go to whatever NRL journey he wants now. If people wish, he can have a plaque at ashfield Wests or something and we can just forget the bad stuff.

* my car was a 4 speed. I was semi envious of the 5 speed. Till a friend brought me a Redback spider gearstick knob. it had a redback spider set in the middle of the knob. Loved it and loved the car, even though it was slow felt like you were doing 90 when you were doing 60. Man best cars are the cars you can die in.
What are you going on about, I never once said we made the wrong call to punt Nofa, what I have said a number of times is that he is not the worst winger in NRL history as one poster keeps saying.
It was the right move to release him, but don't just make crap up and rewrite history to support a flawed argument

As far as wingers go, Jackson Kaufusi, Mark O'Halloran, Trent Clayton, Luke Duffy, Lee Murphy, Makasini Richter, Jordan Rankin to name a few
Jackson Kaufusi Wow what a name from the past wasn't a lower grade superstar because he was bigger then the other kids ?

And Rankin Taylor's love child you know it's the reason why Addo Car played for NSW and Australia it's because of the kind words of wisdom from Jordan and something else but i just don't remember

Gee there are some names in that bunch that have you drawing parallels with the great wingers of the past e.g.
Ken Irvine, Johnny King, Eric Grothe, Kerry Boustead, etc.

Worked in the airline industry for forty years and had dealings with most top line sportsmen/ women, actors and musicians. Greg Norman was close to the biggest knob to deal with, absolute tosser. Steve Waugh was always pretty tense and never dropped his guard. On the whole most were very nice people who must of got hammered by the general public. My favourite experience, one day I had to escort Robin Williams to his aircraft, such a nice guy, and he just rattled off joke after joke. When we left the lounge it was just him and me, by the time we got to the aircraft there were a 200 people In fits of laughter.

I've met Tugger. I think he's just a private and insular person.

Greg Norman was a spanner to me as a kid too,

I was at the Australian skins game at Laguna Keys, was Ian Baker Finch, Craig Parry, Norman and David Graham from memory.

I had bought a cap and got all three of the other guys signatures and had a chat but every time i approached Norman i was met with security saying no and stop pestering him, (he wasn't playing well and topped a fairway wood into a fairway bunker about 20mtrs in front of him). i laughed at that and then the course security said id be escorted off the course if I kept hassling him. the second morning he was on the practice area signing a heap of stuff in front of the cameras, my old boy said now's your chance, and I said stuff him, I don't want it any more.

Norman was a hero to me growing up, i had his Akubra hat, started playing golf because of watching him, and then bam, bridges incinerated in one afternoon.

but to keep on topic, I do hope Galvin gets a fair play at the jersey, even if just a couple of weeks early on in the season to give him a vibe and a feel for what to aim at

Yeah he was happy to talk. Even my missus said geez he really came across like he wanted to
keep chatting. He could be his twin, very fit.
He laughed off that tackle from Olakau'atu .It's footy.
To be honest he was really talking more about him getting his speed back and trimming down 4kgs
to get there. Also prolonging his career at the tigers.
I said leaving the storm worked ok for Nicko Hynes. lol
Sucks about Steve Waugh, lol,I bet your mate loved it.
Sounds like he comes from decent family, I reckon Olam will be a good signing for us. 🤞

Take this with a grain of salt since it is coming from The Mole.

“But the youngster, labelled by those in the know as the next Nathan Cleary, has been fast-tracked into the top side at five-eighth following injuries to new signings Latu Fainu and Jayden Sullivan.

Galvin has been training in the halves alongside another of the Tigers' new buys, Aidan Sezer, and the pair have pleased incoming coach Benji Marshall.

Fainu and Sullivan may be fit for the kick-off in early March, but Australian Schoolboys star Galvin has been making such a good impression in the pre-season that Tigers insiders say the spot is his to lose.”

Flippers, DWZ’s bro that played here for a couple of years, in his debut game he had no stats at halftime, not a run, or a tackle, or a pass, or even a catch? Nothing in 40mins?
We’ve had some good ones.

Yep that tackle killed Taniela's career. Ben Smith would get six weeks for that these days - and rightly so.
Yup, a nuffie taking out a superstar again !
Taniela is one of my all time favourites and the only winger who came close to generating the same excitement John Ribot gave old maggies fans each time he touched the ball.

I am also not sure how we got GI in??

GI as a player mentor, awesome. As a fullback mentor, he was more of a Barge style fullback and would lack some of the techniques that Minichello or Slater would have. I realise we had Brett Hodgson here before and I think Brett was able to play fullback more tactfully, ofcourse he did not have GI's physical frame or speed.
I expect a much fitter Bula, I expect him to be training harder and crossing the line. It's good to see melbourne culture coming here.

We need mentors with these young players so very glad GI is doing that here.
I’ve met GI and he was very kindly to me for no reason and a buddy met him at a shop and had the same experience. My friend was serving him and GI had nice manners.

As it turns out, he’s very close to Richo who helped lure him away from the storm.

No doubt you can tell that Latrell has desperately tried to emulate him. No cigar ay?

GI, hes introverted and even shy but has always let his deeds do the talking.

Greatness is bestowed on people, that’s where GI fits.

He’s a genuine immortal.

What a coup to have him connected with us. This is massive.

This changes a lot for us.
