Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maybe none are interested!

Never know, maybe Hodgo as a pure assistant running the attack will work much like how Barrett as an assistant does. Will give the benefit of the doubt to Richo's judgement.
I reckon you are 💯 correct with your "Maybe none are interested".
How could you have a coach with more experience and knowledge than Benji playing 2nd fiddle to Benji.
It would be an admission of failure to do that.

I think the Bateman statement the other week about him coming back is Moses just ensuring John gets what's owed to him. I still doubt it would be with us if his original issue is with Benji. Unfortunately for us it comes down to $$$. He wants what Sheenius signed him for & tbh I don't blame the bloke.

Souths or Manly seem like the only realistic destinations in the NRL. Hopefully he stays in SL though.

Yep. Glad the club is finally starting to show some backbone. Kid is 17 and has achieved nothing and thinks he can demand the world. Nup, terrible for culture, get rid of the entitled jerk
They are all entitled these days champ. You either allow for it or have no players left. It’s the modern world and need to adjust to it.

True that seems to be the attitude today but totally disagree regarding that's how things are done. There is no way Large demands a first grade spot from Ivan Cleary, Wayne Bennett, Shane Flannaghan, Trent Robinson, Todd Payton and esp Craig Belamy. Each one of them would have told him to pack his bags like Richo did. His management saw us as a soft touch just like previous years. He left us to go to Manly who allowed it by promising him a first grade spot. The entitlement is astounding and can lead to major problems down the line. It's a shame to lose a talented junior but I totally back the club on this the players and managers cannot be allowed to dictate terms. It's a line in the sand moment from us that we should have done when Moses was whining he wanted out.

I can come up with some theories & my latest is Bateman & Naden to Manly.

1 - Generational talent Large (akin to a Top 4 AFL draft pick so has high value IMO) released to Manly.
2 - Bateman managed by Isaac Moses, Seibold’s manager.
3 - Bateman recruited to WT by Sheens & Warren Macdonnell. WMac now Manly’s recuitment manager.
4 - Manly could use another backrower.
5 - Naden recruited by WMac to WT too. Would be good depth there.

Who is with me?

I have never believed in anything remotely connected to conspiracy theories but i sure as hell hope you are right on this one. That would be wonderful

Thats on the club more than Large.
We enable that culture.
If players want out we let them go fast
If the kids want something most the time we give it to them.
We gave into a bunch of kids this season and have already promised Makasini he will play 1sts next season.
Look at the coaching structure we are a mates club, not a results club.

True and it will get sorted slowly, one thing at a time I reckon. I'm a bit torn on Benji though, on one hand I think Richo gives him another year to see some improvement and then moves him on if it's not happening. On the other Richo might not want to upset the apple cart by sacking him if the players like playing under him. If it were me I'd tell him we need to start to see consistency. It's one of the story's next year I'm really keen to see unfold. Hope Benji can make it work but I just don't see it atm.

Benji and Richo embraced it this season, they have built that culture. We will have more kids demanding things.

What I have noticed on his Insta stories is there is not one happy birthday from any WT player. Usually players share them all & he has shared a lot today but none from WT players. Either no WT team mate wished him HB or he has chosen not to share them amongst all the others.
Haven’t seen anyone post anything about it so idk. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come tho

I don't think Large has demanded a first grade spot and I very much doubt Manly would as he isn't going to overtake DCE, Brooks or Tom any time soon and the CEO comments were about securing the spine of the future.
The clause request is very much a reasonable one in my opinion. Why would he want to commit long term if Galvin also does? Also, Why would we want him long term if Galvin does choose to stay? He seemed willing to stay but self aware enough to know he was likely 2nd fiddle, without adding the likes of Fainu and Sullivan to the conversation.
I'm all for standing up to unreasonable demands. I'm not convinced this was one.

I think it was very unreasonable. It'd be like interviewing someone for a senior management position and having them say they'll take the job if they're guaranteed the next promotion. They would be out the door in quick time.

Are you saying he should have been promised the spot without earning it , who the hell does he and his management think they are to put forward such demands , i say good riddance
