What would that do?Have the 3rd as a mutual option
If a guy wants 3 years, a mutual option is as good as getting 2 years because the club has no commitment for the 3rd year.

Didn't RCG burn his bridges when he left Panthers?I like the rumour from @Odessa of RCG back to Panthers who free up cap with To'o to Tigers
I'd add to thart one more improtant ingredient - winning the ruck. That allows time to get back to the line and suck a big breath in ready to go again. So on top of conditioning we need a little bit more on the wrestling front.I think line speed usually comes down to a few individuals leading the line in a team. It takes a lot of energy. You look at the sharks game - one of the stronger sides we fielded all year - and API made 41 tackles in 66 minutes missed 2. Papali was next 32 tackles played 60 something minutes because we had Sam Fainu and a part time hooker on the bench. If Api leads the line speed he can't play 80 all year and we need better bench depth that can keep up that intensity when they come out IMO

Wests Tigers trio selected for PM's XIII
Three Wests Tigers players have been selected to play for the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII teams.www.weststigers.com.au
I think there's more to it than just falling off. It was the beginning of a constant changing of the team which included the spine. Galvin was gone for the Dolphins & Dragons game (suspended), then we lost Bateman & Samuela for the Dragons game & it was just the start of a lot of disruptions. The only time I've seen us do that for 80 minutes was this year against Cronulla. It was the first time I left a game thinking "we have finally done it" and had hopes for a big year. We backed it up the following week against Parra to a degree, not as much line speed but very good effort in scamble and commitment. Then we just fell off a cliff.
I was thinking that surely they now realise what it takes and if we can have that effort just 60% of games, we will win enough for 8th spot. The fact we didn't do it again, not even once, is shameful on the entire group of players. They should be embarrassed.
Flegg started after ball and Matt's were finished...Maybe you aren't aware of the downstream impact we had by blooding youngsters in First Grade this year.
FG calling up NSW cup players
NSW cup calling up Flegg Players
Flegg calling up SG Ball players
SG Ball calling up Harrold Matthews players
Easy to look at it with no context and say we were sh1t...

I agree with you about earning promotion, and the previous recruitment, but it all adds up to more pressure, more combinations, if you can even call them combinations with such a high turnover, and therefore worse results. Hopefully, with Richo now controlling the place and having a bit of a clue, that starts changing in 2025 and beyond.Flegg started after ball and Matt's were finished...
And every club promotes players from these grades! Why do we think we're the only club doing it?! We're not, everyone else just does it quietly where we shout it from the rooftops. We promoted more to guest grade and Cup because our recruitment was a complete failure and we kept had no one else to call upon. That is a massive failure as a club . Players need to earn promotion, not just get it by default
If’s only a concern for those who wanna win games.Oh yes To’o would be amazing but probably unlikely. Besides that, we need forwards not more wingers. Correct me if I’m wrong, but we’ve lost Steph, Papalii and most likely Bateman and have only bought Hunt who plays very limited minutes. Apart from Klemmer and Twal our prop depth is potential only.
No shit.Flegg started after ball and Matt's were finished...

Other teams call up there best players once they are ready to be called up we had to call up players out of pure necessity if they were ready or not 2 very different thingsFlegg started after ball and Matt's were finished...

Balmain B oy loves being negative I wonder what he will do if we start winning game next year.No shit.
But you're arguing something new every time somebody provides a counter to what you're saying.
1/ You said we came last in nearly every grade. False (we had 3 teams that didn't come close to last).
2/ Then you said only one team made the finals and that was an 'extreme failure'. This was a different point and no-one was trying to 'defend that' as you put it.
3/ Now you're saying it was our recruitment's fault and that is the complete failure and that players shouldn't earn promotion by default. No-one's arguing the counter here. That's a complete strawman. We all know our recruitment has been terrible. We all know we've had too many juniors promoted.
You're not wrong with most of what you're saying, but you're not making one, clear, cohesive point.
You keep jumping around to the next miserable take after someone provides context to what you're saying or outright refutes your point.
It's very difficult to have a proper discussion when somebody keeps moving the goalposts.
Yep my father rated Piper. The two he always mentions are GB prop Brian Lockwood and GB half Dave Bolton. Bolton's ball skills were great. Outstandings GB players who served Balmain well.George Piper
I don't believe many of the players that got called up deserved it despite being excellent talents. Not many players truly earnt it in lower grades. Except for Johanssen and Si.
