Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Have u not realised that we can’t be picky , we need players like him , takes the ball up hard and his defence is good , forget any thing about his brothers ,
Re: Tyrell May

I feel he is too soon here. I like what the Roosters and Sharks would later do:
Collect your rough diamonds once your core squad is sorted.

We don't have Captain sorted.
We don't have a long term spine.

Now, yes we need a strong forward pack and we can't be picky. Someone like May though can easily steer your season away into Chaos.

Benji is a rookie coach. The Sharks were very smart in giving Fitzgibbon Finucane and easier to coach players. Craig would be better at handling may then benji though... No drama queens, were building culture.

I know this is a signings suggestions thread, but seriously we are a million to one chance of signing either Leo Thompson or Xavier Willison unless we pay them massive overs.
For those suggesting Turuva will be our saviour at centre and Skelton will be our saviour on the wing, I wish I shared your confidence.
Turuva is not real fast, not real big, not real strong and is a suspect front on defender, what attributes does he have to suggest he can be a quality centre ?
Skelton is a big beast, but slow for a winger, very rarely runs hard or aggressively enough to run over the top of opposing defenders and is a suspect defender who is prone to coming in when not required.
On top of this it is hopeful at best that Olam can overcome his injury concerns and get back to anywhere near his best.
That is just half our problems as we also have a head coach that struggles connecting with his players, numerous contracted players unwanted but not wanting to give up their over inflated contracts and hard to imagine any of them will be highly motivated.
Add an average at best forward pack lacking in quality and depth.
Unlesss a miracle happens in way of recruitment and retention between now and season 2025 kick off, it’s very hard to see us getting off the bottom of the ladder.
Vicious my old friend I think Luai will make a huge difference hang in there old mate.
.

Roosters don’t tell a player as good as May they can leave without something serious happening. They’re losing Hargreaves and May was massive this year. Buyer beware
They are loosing May..
And loosing a bunch of their high quality backs.

A few clubs will be hunting for talent, fortunately we are not prime targets.

Kobe Hetherington In Tigers Sights

Brisbane Broncos forward Kobe Hetherington is the latest target in Benji Marshall’s sights as he looks to finalise his roster for the 2025 season.
“The Tigers have been obviously chasing him pretty hard or next year – he’s sort of the last piece of the puzzle.” said Brent Read on Triple M’s Rush Hour.

Hetherington’s management is set to meet with Michael Maguire next week to iron out his future, and whether he has one at the Broncos.

“So the Tigers should have an answer from Kobe Hetherington at some point next week whether he will join them for the upcoming season.”
Hetherington is the last piece of the puzzle ......bloody one messed up puzzle if you ask me .....

He is wanted by all 17 NRL clubs, so what makes anyone think he will choose to sign for the 3 time Wooden Spooners ?
It’s a great idea in theory, but the reality says he is no chance of signing for Wests Tigers unless we make him far and away the highest paid prop in the game and pay him around 1.2 million per season.
And as good as he is, he has not showed anything to suggest he is good enough to carry our forward pack on a 1.2 million dollar per season wage.
Yes we managed to sign Luai, but only by paying him 200k more than any other club was willing to pay him, the salary cap does not allow us to do that with more than one player and being any chance of building a decent team around them.
Ben Hunt is going to be getting over a million on the market soon. He's top in try assists, but don't let that fool you, he's had a very up and down year. He's also mid 30s. What we paid for luai was a bargain, if we were paying for him now 1.2 would seem about right, whereas last year we had plenty of critics saying it was a mistake to sign him and we should have gone for ezra mam or AFB
