Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Moses isn’t even worth 1.2 now, let alone in another two years
If he goes anywhere probably go to the roosters last ditched effort to add a premiership to his name for the laughable amount 700K, seems to be a rooster's thing that players want to play here and the NRL won't bat an eyelid.

I totally agree.....Issac Moses will strongly suggest Galvin signs with a stronger club.......the narrative from Galvin supports this notion too...If I were Richo I'd be putting a 3 year extension on ther table NOW and if he doesn't sign before Rd1, I'd be prioritising Latu Fainu as the starting 5/8....just my view
Quotes from Galvin:

"I'm really staying out of that at the moment. My manager is dealing with that," Galvin told Zero Tackle.

"I haven't really heard much about it. Nothing's really happened at the moment so I'm just going to let this year play out and whatever happens, happens.

"I don't really want to get into talks at the moment. I just want to play my best."

Absolutely no indication he wants to stay a WT....This is EXACTLY how things played out with Moses and Tedesco when they were being managed by Issac Moses....I'm telling you Galvin is as good as gone after his current contract!.

Plus, he’ll be 32. Would be a huge let down to lose a 21 year old with the world at his feet to bring back a guy who ditched us to give his best years to another club, only to come back to top up his pension.
Yeah, actually didn't think that through. If he has a PO, then he'll have a price. If it's $1m+, that's not going to work.

I feel your distaste for him is fudging the numbers....
2 'Game Winning' plays in an Origin Decider

1.2mill every day!!

**EDIT** and he kicks at 80% or there abouts...
Agreed, best all round kicking game in the NRL, great football brain and is getting better with age

Seyfarth's comments around Hodgson wanting us to play thru the middle and hitting our lead runners often gives you a fair idea around our style of play.

a lot of scheming from Api and some block shapes built around Bird with a middle next to him and a half out the back will be the order of the day I think. guys like Terrell, Pole and Hunt are going to be pivotal next year, with Jahream hopefully buzzing around the middle looking for offloads.

Think that's been a real area of weakness for Jahream (probably not entirely of his own making). He just hasnt been there enough when guys have their arms free or make a break. Whether its just inexperience, lack of game reading or style Benji played last year.

If thats the style they want to play this year then there is no better teacher than Hodgo. I think having some more strike on the edges in Skelton, turuva and makasini will free Jahream up a little to play through the middle.

Im really excited to see what he produces this year.

Please stop. I'm struggling to cope with a massive case of cognitive dissonance:
Reading the wtf and sensing some semblance of... hope?

It's freaking me out!! 😂

I think it's probably a combination of a lot of things but it's part of his game he's going to have to build upon, especially with Hunt and May coming to the club. we had no issue offloading the ball last year, but the key is ensuring they're meaningful.

Hodgo as you say might play a key role in helping him develop that skill. it was one of his strengths.

I'm really excited to see what Jahream produces this year. last year was a bit stop start and he was playing injured for different periods but I think he's one of our most dangerous players when he's in the mood. the addition of Luai and the other backs you mentioned should help him considerably.

Won't be an easy adjustment, especially when blokes get tired, takes a lot of discipline to keep running it hard and straight back against the grain.
But will suit guys like Seyfarth and Samuela, and will keep defenses much more honest than they have been against us, and will give the outside backs much more room to work with.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I think Bula is actually very good with his support play.

That try at Leichhardt from Galvin comes to mind as one example.

I do remember Laurie being terrible at it. So many times Papali'i would be left hanging with no one there for the offload, but I reckon Bula does it well.

Fair enough there were some times he did it. Just didn't do it consistently enough for me, but not all his fault! Galvin was pretty helter skelter, and there was a real lack of impact in the middle and edges for Jahream to work with.

fitness certainly is the key. it's been a massive issue for us since 2011, so let's see if they can finally fix it once and for all.

I do think that the first couple months of last season is a good sample size for the way Marshall wants us to play moving forward.

quite often we went one out and hard and straight between the A and B defender, with Api occasionally taking the markers out of play. I'd assume we'll build on that again with Bird at 13, giving him a lead runner and someone out the back.

having guys like Hunt, May, Skelton, Turuva and even a fit Olam and Doueihi should help us a lot in terms of yardage and carting it one out.
