They'll need some spare cap with Manu coming back mid season. JWH wouldn't have freed up too much cash as he would have been getting the one club player dispensation from the NRl. They still have loads of high end players on their roster including Sam Walker who they have upgraded.

I can believe they have cap issues, and have good depth in the front row. Another similar to May who doesn't fit into their group? I don't think it will happen, but could see how it could.

I’m a bit 50/50 on the Klemmer scenario. For 1 he probably wouldn’t be in our Top 17 without injuries/suspensions etc. but as soon as another middle drops out of the squad he’s easily the next man up ahead of Kit, Rahme, TimJo, Matamua (probably that order).

I expect though now (if he leaves) what might happen is if anyone in the forward pack (incl.2nd row), Porter comes in to the bench and Sione takes whoever’s spot provided he can play 2nd row as well. This probably isn’t too bad and similar to if Klem was here, however my main concern is when we get below Porter with 2 or more injuries/suspensions.

If we get another 2nd row injury it’ll probably be Sukkar then Broederlow unless Bird and Sione can play there.

Then if we have multiple middle injuries then we would bring in Kit and some others who are good talents but still young and finding their feet at the top level.

Obviously looking at the positives it will have freed up a space and some more cash which we can use to get a new player or upgrade someone etc.
We have 2 spots left in the Top 30 if this happens and I’d hope 1 is used for a gun centre (everyone saying Taylan May but he still needs to go to court first) and a Klemmer replacement on a 1-2 year deal, unless we somehow find someone really good. I think it can be either back row or a middle as hopefully Sione can play either and maybe Bird as well (lock and 2R) They don’t necessarily need to be a great player just a bit better than Kit and Porter realistically.

I don’t think it’s the end of the world or likely to significantly impact our season, it’s mainly our depth that suffers a bit. Would rather he stays unless we can find someone of similar (or better) quality.
