Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just to give you an idea of the top 30 contracts that Sheens handed out which till this day severely affects our roster spots & most importantly our weak NRL depth.
  1. Justin Matamua
  2. Kit Laulilii
  3. Brandon Tumeth
  4. Solomone Saukuru
  5. Tony Sukkar
  6. Josh Feledy
  7. Jordan Miller
That's almost one third of our whole top 30 (albeit Miller has been released)
Yeah but Sheens said Benji had the last say.
Disclaimers 1o1

Imo he was just referencing the guys in the squad now, I didn't read to much into it, I could be wrong though. I think with big May there he could keep him on a tight leesh. Plus stipulations in the contract, he would know its his last chance.
If I had no case to answer and someone tried to put behaviour clauses into my contract on the basis of an accusation, I would tell them to kick rocks.

Assume you were going to sign him before he was accused. Would you have these clauses in there? No...so now that he has been accused and found there is no case to answer, you put them in?

I understand the sentiment, but you can't do it in my opinion. You are basically insinuating that you think he is guilty.

You don't need clauses for that type of behaviour anyway. It's grounds for immediate dismissal.

A few players I think we need to focus on ASAP moving forward:

Bula - He is a bigger must then Galvin IMO as he is getting better by the game and his attaching and creating numbers are improving. He is very solid in defence, catches high balls and just looks effectless. He is contracted unit 2026 with a MO 2027. We need to extend him and even an increase with the salary cap going up.

AD - People are always on his back but he can cover multiply positions, kick goals and clearly loves the club and wants to be here. I would have no problems offering him 2 years at 500-600k.

TDS - If we have identified him as our long term 9 and it looks that way we need to look to upgrade and extend him for 4 years before the vultures are out. He looks like a guy willing to learn his trade and work hard.

Skelton - This guy in 3 games has clearly shown me he is worth more the 230k so would extend him before Nov 1.

At the end of the year there are 2 players I would look to upgrade and extend even though they have 2 more years under contract. T May (must) and Samual F. This would be a reward for how great they have worked and just shows them the club cares and wants them upgraded and extended before other club's circle.

Galvin - Look tbh I believe we will and should offer him and upgrade and extension but I would not break the bank and offer crazy money like media are reporting. I would have no problems with 800k -1m with the cap rising but if he cannot see the club is set up for success, I don't know what will.

We will add external players as needed but overall these are the main focuses I see.

True, I agree with you wholeheartedly charges were dropped and he is innocent, though that's for this issue and he has had other issues off field previously unrelated to the charges that were dropped, that's why I think clauses will be inserted to protect the club and hopefully keep him on the straight and narrow.

Yeah, but any violence would be grounds for immediate dismissal. You don't need a clause.

From Buzz latest article:

Which million-dollar forward (it’s not hard to guess who) is fighting to save his career at an NRL club after a sluggish start to the season? He is free to negotiate with rival clubs from November but will be offered an early release unless his form picks up.

Bateman? Paulo? Matterson?
You'd think it may be a Cowboys player. Nanai has started really poorly. Taumalolo on big money up there too but he was injured I think until this week

Not me mate, he has a better eye than me.

Yes but that requires you to be buying actual lottery tickets. Sheens seemed to be trying to win the lottery with an old bus ticket, a local real estate agent's business card and an unstamped loyalty card from a cafe that went out of business in 2017.
