Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

To be fair- the Broncos are flush with star forwards, so for their fans to feel Hunt isn't great isn't that surprising..

I like that he is versatile, works hard & from what I've seen this season, is happy running fearlessly onto the ball.

He's not the most talented, and I don't think we necessarily need guys that start (particularly if we pick up KPP), but if this is the quality we bring in to the 17 when Pole gets hurt- we are infinitely better off than we are now.

I'd say he's kind of Sione Fainu level of 1st grade ready. Can he be replaced? Yes. Can he do a job? Yes. Will he sink our salary cap? No.

Plus- there's an Easts Leagues link to Richo.
Sounds like our kinda plodder

BB, how far off do you think Godinet is from competing for a 1st grade spot?
2 years maybe, see how he develops in the lower grades. He's got a lot of growing to do and to work on paying against bigger opponents.
As we've seen with the Matt's winning team from a few years back, dominating against young schoolboys ultimately means nothing.
He works hard at his game and with a good attitude it will help but he's pretty small compared to most back rowers and it will take time for him to develop. And there's nothing wrong with that. We can't get sucked into our usual spiral of rushing kids before they're ready because we're desperate and have no one else to turn to

KPP has the same energy as the kids who's dad makes them play on the weekend. I just dont get the hype
This argument gets trotted out all the time and I just don't get it. In last nights game he was first for tackles and second for run metres for the Knights

Gets the Bula treatment - might look like to the eye he's just easing his way around but he gets through a lot of work.

And in a side that missed 50 tackles he only missed 1. There were mutliple times 1 on 1 he came up with a really good play to shut down the opposition.

For me, it's a no brainer to sign him up!

110% correct bb
We can't get sucked into our usual spiral of rushing kids before they're ready because we're desperate and have no one else to turn to. We have rushed and failed to fully develop the better juniors this club lacks a proper skills and development program.

Hard to shine in a shit team....I still have my doubts on him performing here...if hes the best we can do were heading backwards in our recruitment

From what I've seen of him he could turn out to be a great signing but there are certainly some question marks. I haven't seen enough to determine how tough he is. If he has the toughness, then I think he will be weapon for us. His post contact metres on traffic looks very good, so if we can open up some space for him I expect KPP to make plenty of inroads. You can see he has an offload in him too, which a previous poster has stated was his strength in the super league. I'm keen on getting him across asap.

May, KPP, Reynolds in

Galvin, Naden, Feledy, Matamua, Tumeth out

Makes us better

Can’t fully rely on Latu yet and Reynolds likely won’t play every game so he’ll get his chance.

I'm in on Latu, I think he can be a superstar. So I would be looking to sign someone like Jack Cole. I have no idea what his contract status is, but if we could get him across with the incentive to genuinely compete with Latu for the 6 then we have a very good backup half if Latu gets injured.

There's a few options around.

Jack Cole as you mentioned.
Brad Schneider.

One of the NZ options; Metcalfe, Temaire Martin, Chanel Harris.

Some ordinary options like:
Dean Hawkins at Parra.
Chad Townsend.
Jake Clifford

Then a few more guys in superleague.
Some back up halves definitely floating around.

Arent most of those similar to Kurt Falls?

As mentioned Latu will still get a crack with Reynolds here plus for me he is a better option at 14 than TDS.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lucas for a few years and watched KPP closely over last 2 seasons.

KPP has moved from the left to right and well Ponga never floats on the right.

In saying that when he was on the left the line brakes didn’t flow but he often at times looked to get half through.

KPP is putting the effort in and very much focused on team first. 40 tackles and 100+mtrs a game shows it clearly.

He often looks to offload (hardly any support near him) and his post contact meters are good once he hits the 40mtr zone. His legs keep pumping and often doesn’t hit the ground.

KP hovers to the left. They have replaced halves every few weeks and swapped the hooker rotation around a heap as well.

The Knights formation on the right is the worst in the comp by a margin this season.

He is better than what we have but is he elite far from it.
