Exactly the same, personally think it's a total waste of time. It's been completely sanitised from what it used to be. Used to love the guys belting eachother added theatre, passion and drama. Now it's just another game that completely dominates league for 6 weeks. Can't wait for it to end.

It’s also like Xmas. The day after game 3, it’s totally forgotten about again for a year.

It was only a couple of years ago that guys were getting KO’d everywhere. Game 1 was lame but I think the series still has wow factor.

Generally you have some idea that something is a miss if you start an investigation. You kind of have an idea. Or do authorities just go and start investigations at random. Let’s investigate you for murder. Sure we have nothing now, but who knows what we could find.

The Roosters can’t fart without someone putting tin foil on. They’ve just released Young and Smith, plus Manu last year. But signing another marquee player has to be suss.

It's not as exciting as it was years ago you can blame the modern-day defense for that it is so good amongst the elite, I will still watch it though hoping Romey has a blinder.

What's not so obvious (to me) is why are we playing blokes with any restrictions on them in the 17 at all?
(Especially a Half)
Isn't that what reserve grade is for?

You can say that for the game as a whole. 90’s-early 00’s was the golden era for me.

I disagree because you need depth in your squad to make a decent impact in the modern game.You always get injuries/suspensions so you need decent replacements.At a minimum you need 22/25 capable first grade players imho.

I say 20/22 tops and fill the rest with minimum juniors

Why?
Because for ages our base 17 hasn't been strong enough.
Give us a first grade 1-17 and were not at the bottom of the table. (a lot closer to this, this year).

Someone like Starford Toa is one of our best backs. He is just making first grade in many teams.
Depth means we can replace Toa with someone like Brent Naden. Don't get me wrong I like both players, but Naden should really be off to England.

We could be spending Toa + Naden money better on a first grader like Bradman Best or Herbie F or Staggs. Someone who really takes the field. If they get injured, ok a Junior replaces them...

But were not winning as much as we should be with our best first grade side. We need a competitive side that wins games. When our best backline is Turuva, AD, Toa, Skelton, what's the point of Depth?
