Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wishart is a gun in his own right. Not a player you’d sign with a vision of being a stop gap.

Money talks.

Api’s only got a few years. Haywood is still a massive question mark. Hope is a cup player. I don’t think we can go into 2026 without another quality hooker/utility. A hooker that covers the entire backline really well and could also handle lock is pretty valuable.

It’s pretty obvious Api struggles to go more than 60mins. That’ll decrease more year by year and he’s been carrying us for years.

There’s not too many 14’s as versatile as him.

With Tallyn gone, I’d be having a look at Wishart from the Storm until Haywood is ready. Great 14 and can fill in just about anywhere. Good cover if Latu’s hammy issues persist and could give Api a spell too.

Mason is an ok backup 5/8 or fullback, but he needs time to develop and I don’t think he’s the answer as a hooker defensively.

Wishart would be getting good offers from most clubs in the NRL if he was available,he would not be a cheap option for anyone as he would expect to start at the majority of clubs.Having said that i wish he was one of our players as he would be a massive improvement for us.

You wouldn't throw Josh Papalii a bone?

Him and Frizell would be solid for.our pack.
I ... Yes I would.

But man. That kind of player, the Club stallwart hasn't gone well here.
I remember us signing Tim Mannah and we practically had the Parra fans in knots. .. then he dinnit come (maybe for the best).
Josh Reynolds did not meet any expectations.

I am up for Signing papalii because of the attitude he brings. Tyson though is so close to retirement I don't see the point. Saying No and saying no too because he rejected us numerous times in his prime.

It will take more than money for him to move.

Well,

Why not sign a gun player who can play a bench 14 role but step in for Api.

Look, I would like us to be more set in our positions and I think changing positions hasn't helped AD, Bird or many players.

But signing someone like Wishart wouldn't be too bad. Although he looks similar to Latu/Bird/ others we have brought in.

Was it Ivan or JT?

I thought MM was going and to be honest from the statements he said, he sounded like he wanted to leave.

I can't remember if we had removed the offer for Woods and Teddy by the time Ivan was coach... or maybe Ivan had just signed.
They were stalling under JT, shopping around looking for deals…

Ivan came and literally said they needed to make a decision and “get on the bus”

Woods later said that they were due to sign except the board members essentially tried to lay the sacking of Taylor onto those four players and predominantly him as captain. He became sick of the unprofessionalism and being used as the scapegoat and left. He and teddy had organised to go to the bulldogs and they were trying to get Moses there but Hasler didn’t want him. But that was the reason it was dragging on still when Ivan arrived. Woods signed with bulldogs and teddy had a last minute change to the roosters.

Teddy had signed at the bulldogs but Minicheiio got in his ear and he used the 10 day cooling off period to go to the cocks
