Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Has Roberts played any KOE or NRL?
He hasn’t played NRL as yet, but played quite a few games of KOE mostly earlier this season.
He’s a big and fast youngster who has been a standout in the junior reps and ran riot over our Flegg team a few weeks back, but was a bit disappointing when playing KOE this season.
He’s only 20 years old, so you would asssume there is plenty of improvement still to come and being so big, fast and athletic there is plenty to work with.

We are not sure if these guys are top 30 so numbers hard to tell.

However, we will lose a few more before next season outside the main one's people believe are going. A player off contract in 26 might sign elsewhere and we will release early if needed.

Good news we are adding more depth and not wasting big money.

I very much doubt either of these 2 would have signed with us unless they are top 30 contracted.
I assume Geyer would be on a bare minimum top 30 contracted to see how it works out and leaving his options open to possibility link up with the Perth Bears in 2027.
My intel tells me there was at least a handful of clubs interested in signing Roberts, so we have done well to sign him and I think we would have needed to pay him on potential to get his signature.
He’s a Christian Brothers Lewisham product, the same as Tony Sukkar.

Geyer was told he wasn’t getting another contract, and I dare say not many other clubs would have been interested

🤣🤣🤣 it’s like clockwork
Since you won’t answer. My comment was in reference to a question whether he would be top 30. I deduced that since he won’t be getting a contract from his current club that he won’t have a lot of options, hence our club can more or less lowball him. So again, how is that negative?

Both are big, tall, strong and fast, everything you generally want in an edge back rower.
The issue is neither of them use their size and speed to advantage.
If we have the coaching staff to change their mindset and get them playing with good energy and aggression we will have very good players on our hands, but the fact that their current clubs were not able to get it out of them is a concern.
It obviously means we are not looking at established versatile edge back rowers such as Siosifa Talakai or Simi Sasagi, so we are relying on these lower cost project players to play to their maximum potential and challenge for a position in our NRL 17.
Roberts absolutely destroyed our Flegg team about 5-6 weeks ago, so he’s got plenty of talent, but he doesn’t always seem to get out of 1st gear.
These are low risk, high reqard squad depth players on low value contracts. It leaves money in the cap for bigger signings.

Not to mention, not one of our recent signings is Polynesian so your theory about Benji only bringing Polynesian players goes out the window.
