Perth Bears prepare to make $7.5 million offer to lure Tino Fa'asuamaleaui west

Titans skipper Tino Fa'asuamaleaui will test the open market as the Perth Bears prepare a record $7.5 million deal to make him the NRL's highest-paid player.

Mal knows Tina very well.
If Tina was to leave GC moving to Perth over Sydney climate / living wise it’s an easy choice.

What's that for...four seasons?
Camt compete with that...they will have a top heavy roster, will throw the market all out of whack yet probably be anchored tonthen bottom for their first few years
Is it 5 years at $1.5M per year? Surely it can’t be 4 years! Madness for a middle forward. He’s good, but if you look at the Titans you’d have to say he’s no match winner. You only pay that coin for a game breaker. I do wonder about Mal as the coach of the club. For sure he’s a massive figure of the game, one of the best ever on the field and commands respect off it, but never struck me as a shrewd operative or head coach material.

Yeah I reckon if ya gunna start a new club in the pinnacle comp ya wanna really good experienced coach. Preferably one that has won it at least once.

I think being the new team Perth will need to throw massive overs to get the big names. Sure Mals coaching but as a consultant for thr Titans he was hopeless. He coached Qld imo that was the best league side ever assembled and he coached Australia. Mals had success with the squads that coach themselves. He's an unknown as a coach. Imo if we threw 1.1 - 1.2 to Tino he gives Perth the flick. We're on the up slowly, if Richo is holding money back to have a crack us and the other established teams are in with a shot of signing him. If he wants what Perths offering, he's not worth 1.5 million. Not worth breaking a salary cap that is finally in great shape for. 1.1 for the Qld lock, captain of another club. I think for where we are and our needs he's totally worth it.

They're going after Munster
Good point mate that means that they could have 3 million tied up between Munster and Tino that takes a big chunk out of your cap.

A lot of the Bears top 17 will have holes over the park from a lack of quality that the opposition will be running at it, there could be a lot of pain for Bears supporters in their early years.
