Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You make some valid points. It will be interesting to see the kind of money Perth signs the star player, I also believe the Dylan Brown signing has put a new value in players heads especially in that top level.of players
I guess it's seems obvious we won't be in the muc then but it's impossible to understand how the Bulldogs have entered the race when you consider Crighton Burton kikau Galvin to mention a few and the Newcastle prop .
This. Dogs in the hunt for Tino is a kick in the balls. Have they become the south east Roosters with zero alignment to salary cap protocol? Gus gets a yellow opal card? MFs be signing everyone....

I don't agree this Tino latest chat, I think he is worth it.

My argument is you invest heavily in the type of footballer you don't currently have in your roster. Tigers forwards are workers and decent defenders. Honourable toilers. The only line-bender we have is Royce and obviously he's only got 20 minutes max. No one else has scary power, nobody will fly out of the line to iron someone, nobody will stand in tackles like a colossus and pump an offload.

You see properly what you get from Tino during Origin, not during the Titans matches.

Tino is huge, intimidating, athletic and dynamic. We have nobody like him and I consider him an ideal foil to Terrell. We lack depth at prop. Certainly I'd take Payne Haas as first choice but he's not off contract.
The titans are exhibit A on this strategy . They will get the spoon this year , with one of the best rosters on paper in the comp . Investing hugely on middles and fullbacks . Even the cowboys didn’t with JT , when 1 mil was more like 1.5 mil for today’s salary cap . It was fine when the only other huge salary they were paying was the other JT , but once guys like Morgan came with their hands out , they’ve fallen in a hole . Hugely saved by the massive cap jump a few years ago , which wasn’t originally forecasted .

1m+ for 2- 3 years for a middle while you are in a premiership window and he could make the difference between top 8 and serious contender is smart . 1m+ for a middle for 5 years in almost any scenario will end in tears.
I would love to have Tino, however not at $1m+ for 5 years, I would rather pay $1.5m for 2 years. If you are a contender and the club is moving forward after 2 years he would probably extend anyway. This all or nothing 5+ year contract stuff is dangerous. It invariably includes clauses that favour the player as well.

2026 Development; 2027 top 30
Hopefully he progresses in 26 and earns his top 30. I believe we have bought him in as a middle...watching his highlights i think thats where he will end up.

Interesting what this means for other juniors like Tavana, now there's seemingly no more Dev spots for 2026. All our Dev spots on forwards too
Yep so in summary are development players for 2026 are:

Charlie Murray, Jared Haywood, Pheonix Godinet, Christian Taupau-Moors, Lachlan Broederlow & Ethan Roberts.

Interesting that they are all forwards unless we free up a spot. There is some speculation from us forum-ites that Broederlow's form this season in JF has cast doubt on his spot moving forward.

Otherwise means Javon Andrews must be top 30 and we'll have a number of backs as Train & Trialists.
