Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't agree this Tino latest chat, I think he is worth it.

My argument is you invest heavily in the type of footballer you don't currently have in your roster. Tigers forwards are workers and decent defenders. Honourable toilers. The only line-bender we have is Royce and obviously he's only got 20 minutes max. No one else has scary power, nobody will fly out of the line to iron someone, nobody will stand in tackles like a colossus and pump an offload.

You see properly what you get from Tino during Origin, not during the Titans matches.

Tino is huge, intimidating, athletic and dynamic. We have nobody like him and I consider him an ideal foil to Terrell. We lack depth at prop. Certainly I'd take Payne Haas as first choice but he's not off contract.
Sadly he would be playing club footy for us, not Origin.

Bulldogs are getting around with Max King and Hughes at prop + Salmon at 13...hardly top line players. I wouldn't like to have similar players as the Dogs, but a Nefahu Whyte type would be a good addition to what we have.

The kid can do it all hey. Excited to see him become a full time member of the NRL squad in 2026. Should take his game up plenty of notches again.

I think long term he has to be considered as a 2nd rower and we should set it up that way over the next couple of seasons in Flegg/Cup to help the transition to NRL. The ball playing skill is an added bonus (could offer that Wade Graham ball playing ability from the 2nd row on top of all his other strong attributes).

Siotame Havea Jr is the Pathways player we need to try and develop into that lock role in my opinion. Hasn't been spoken about too much due to injury earlier in the year. However, next year he will be 18 and I assume in a similar position to Pheonix is at the moment...Flegg games under the belt, probably a 2027 Dev contract.

As long as we don't rush both of these kids development, there is huge upside and potential in both of their games.
Siotame Havea is going to be a very good footballer with very big potential to develop into a Wade Graham type of player as long as he can stay healthy and Melb Storm stay away. Please add in the following names Archie Duncombe and Lorima Cosgrave as well very good tough footballers who play with heart and ability.

West Tigers blessed in the future as long as they do not rush there developments and move there careers a long slowly. But Havea is going to surprise people how good he can be.

Definitely a backrower, his skillset is perfect for an edge backrower. He is super strong in contact, breaks tackles and is super agile. He does not suit the middle at all, he is very powerful but doesnt have the frame of a middle. Hes more likely to play centre than in the middle.

He has also always played on the edge, moving him to a position hes never played would just slow his development and hinder his growth as a player. He's a potential 10/10 backrower, no need to even consider moving him to any other position.

He is the type of edge back rower you want running at opposition halves or running line balls. He also has the skill to set up outside backs. He reminds me of Angus Crichton a little bit.

Hopefully he's got another growth spurt or two in him. Size would be his biggest obstacle currently, he's a Small version of Kit at present and it's just trickier for those undersized players to kick on.

You make some valid points. It will be interesting to see the kind of money Perth signs the star player, I also believe the Dylan Brown signing has put a new value in players heads especially in that top level.of players
I guess it's seems obvious we won't be in the muc then but it's impossible to understand how the Bulldogs have entered the race when you consider Crighton Burton kikau Galvin to mention a few and the Newcastle prop .
This. Dogs in the hunt for Tino is a kick in the balls. Have they become the south east Roosters with zero alignment to salary cap protocol? Gus gets a yellow opal card? MFs be signing everyone....

The titans are exhibit A on this strategy . They will get the spoon this year , with one of the best rosters on paper in the comp . Investing hugely on middles and fullbacks . Even the cowboys didn’t with JT , when 1 mil was more like 1.5 mil for today’s salary cap . It was fine when the only other huge salary they were paying was the other JT , but once guys like Morgan came with their hands out , they’ve fallen in a hole . Hugely saved by the massive cap jump a few years ago , which wasn’t originally forecasted .
