Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With Fotuieka was there any bad blood between the club and the family ? It was a tragedy , and I’m sure if the club had its time again , they would have had him under watch after the injury , still it would be human nature for the family to hold ill will towards the club, justified or not . Does anyone know ??

Even if not I'll will im sure it would just feel to close to what happened. Probably the only player who'd id fully support having no interest in playing here

If my brother took his own life after tearing his pec at training and left behind a unborn baby it would not be a place I would go back to just move on don't go back

BMM took it the hardest

Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this?

On your point...almost none of the players we signed this year I would have thought would ever play for us, yet here we are...I am a little more optimistic about our recruitment these days.
I endorse your positive approach. Maybe, if circumstances arise we could be in the mix for a Spencer or a NAS. If that were the case I would offer a minimum 2 year contract to avert such a player from jumping ship to the Perth Bears or Rugby360.

Maybe Richo's trip to the UK last year could bear belated fruit. They have a history of producing hard men... Cliff Watson, Malcolm Reilly, Phil Lowe, Sam Burgess, Adrian Morley, James Graham spring to mind. A real enforcer would be nice.

I know Titans are awful, but I'd be keeping a close eye on plenty of their players. There's plenty of talent there,

already Sami, Fermor and Dave Fifita have been rumoured to be available. There'll probably be a few more good players available too in the off season

Agreed. There are a lot of good players at the Titans but there is the potential for the talent to be taken from them with the new Perth and PNG teams.

Lots of comments about getting value for money. Fair enough - generally that’s what you need to do to put together a strong top 30.

Really do feel though we need a starting middle who is above average/rep standard. I also assume we must have some decent money left considering what we offered Galvin. Other than Taylan May, haven’t really signed anyone that would take that left over salary up.

I’d be very tempted by say, Spencer Leniu on a 2 or 3 year deal. Probably cost 850ish, and is probably only giving you 700ish in value/output but he would be a very good player for us and is potentially attainable too.

NAS similiar category but I feel he is a bit more risky.

Thank you for the endorsement. It means a lot despite it being from a digital friend in a digital world.

Speaking of digital...perhaps Hoppa has another son that plays prop? Talented family.

Minimum 2 years...yes...much easier to do deals when it's other peoples money. I prefer this to the accountability of spending my own.

You are very close to the mark once again. Apparently Hopoate Seniors 3rd nephew removed is a strapping young stallion looking for a shot at the big time. Unfortunately his coach, who saw his potential became so frustrated with the young fellas effort that he simply gave up on him. His parting statement on the young fellas development was that 'he just failed to pull his finger out'.

This thread is going down a "dark hole"

Dont worry about KPP,

He has been under valued and will be avoiding injury now.
That true.

Look it's more concern, then actual worry. I really thought Leo Thompson was the Knights "forward to poach" and he hasn't lived up to that. KPP has clearly been putting the work in.
I wouldn’t worry too much about that, we’re not signing their entire team and coaching staff.

Melbourne have done fine signing Blore and Stef from our wooden spoon team. Similarly Panthers have added Ice and Talagi from us and Parra and did fine. At one point this year the top 4 was comprised of former Titans halfbacks.
Very fair point.
Look were clearly not the Riff or the Storm and not that good at building people. That said KPP does seem to be the kind of forward Benji wants. It really sucks we couldn't swap KPP in and Galvin out earlier in the year as that would IMHO have us making the 8. (or coming a lot closer to us making the 8).
