Alex Seyfarth is a more than sold NRL level bench player, better than what most rival clubs have and is not the problem why we cannot make the top 8.
Yes he started many games this season in the back row and yes he didn’t add much value as a starting player, but take into consideration he is not being paid in accordance to a regular starting player, like Alex Twal he is not selected to be a match winner and he is clearly better suited when playing in the middle off the bench where he brings good energy and a good work rate when plenty of team mates are tiring around him.
That’s how he’s best suited and I’m near certain Benji agrees.
If we are not confident of making the top 8 or better next season, don’t blame our likely bench, blame players within our projected starting line up.

I am the first one to say that whilst we have improved, it’s still not good enough and this club desperately needs to go on and make the 8 next year ….i still think the squad needs some improvement to make it happen … an NRL experienced middle top of the list but there are others …I’ll agree now that since releasing Bud Sullivan ..this should give them the opportunity to replace him in the 30 with a further outside back depth piece …a point you made earlier in the week…

Personally I don’t think Seyfarth is on the bench of our Top 17 …it’s just my opinion and I don’t proclaim to have inside knowledge … but as the offseason is upon us ( just about) …its opportune to be talking here on the forum about the make up of both the 17 and the squad for next year …

I have usually always been careful to qualify my thoughts on Seyfarth as him still being a worthwhile part of the squad who will still play plenty of NRL games ..if notpart of the best 17 …

I’ll also say that I have had my opinions of AD, Twal and Toa turned around this year …so it’s not like I’m necessarily wedded to my current thoughts about Seyfarth indefinitely ….perhaps players are starting to benefit from better coaching and strength and conditioning training ?

I’ll also say not to underestimate the value of a good bench in this modern game …a good bench probably doesn’t win you many games …. But I think it can lose you plenty..

Joey is one of the best analysts of the game... He knows what he's talking about. If he rates TOA, then he is good.. and we've seen it in patches .. it's just whether he can bring it all together and stay injury freer

Yes he’s been mentioned plenty of times.
He shows good potential, he has good size, mobility and is a fit looking athlete, so he ticks plenty of boxes.
The problem is he’s being chased by quite a few clubs and I’m led to believe his asking price is uk above 500k because of it.
So the question would be does he provide value if his contract value is up around 550k ?
It would be a gamble as he’s not worth that money on what he’s done so far, but at age 22 he should be approaching his prime, so it’s a good possibility he could be worth tgat value real soon.
For the record he is the one I would be targeting if it was up to ne, but I’m assuming we probably need to offload Royce Hunt to fit him in our top 30 rusted and within our salary cap.

It is just unrealistic to believe an NRL team will have a bench that consists of all 4 quality players on a weekly basis under salary cap conditions.
You ideally need one or two of your 4 man bench that can provide genuine impact and do things to help win you the game, but there are always one or two that are really just hard working toilers to play a bit of game time while your starting players are having a rest.

Our 2-5 as well as our 11,12 and 13 are collectively too slow to be top quality.
None of the players are individually to blame, but you need a certain amount of speed in these areas and we don’t have it.
The Titans are a fast team and it’s near certain they will find us out and score plenty of points against us on Saturday because if it.

If Hunt is fit ..that’s why I prefer him to Seyfarth … he can provide more impact and only needs to spell Terrell for 15-20 mins …

I know you expect Hunt to be “moved on”… but that’s easier said than done ..

I haven't heard any inclinations as to his price.

Value-wise I'd have him at 350-400. In a seller's market he may well get up to that 550 mark for a desperate team. Maybe even higher. Lest we mention the Leo Thompson contract next year at the Dogs.

We seem to have started showing an ability to get players either at or slightly under market value of late for the first time in forever.

If we could pull off something similar, a 3-year at 4/450 might not be a bad option.
