Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yea, so Donkeys, Chooks and Storm seem to have a never ending chequebook.

But Canberra and the Sharks don't. Not saying those clubs don't set up TPA's, I am saying both of those clubs would have more difficulty and fewer opportunities then us.

Yes, fair point TPA and getting some funding matters. Canberra and Sharks were playing finals footy without (or at least similar to us) this funding.

The board is not the cake, at best it's the icing. Our club needs to be about football and get our onfield performance right.
I dont know what the raiders and sharks football dept gets from their clubs re funding
Do you?
Why do they have more difficulties and fewer opportunities?
It was shown last year HB tip in about $1.6m a year i think it was....compared to the Dogs $7m odd

I do know the Sharks are almost the benchmark when it comes to juniors...they know what theyre doing there and that would help

There is evidence that the tigers lose good coaches.

There's no evidence to suggest that any players have held the club to ransom. They have contracts they need to adhere to, you can't just walk.

It's also more than fair that players who bought into the coaches vision wanted him to stay there. There are players who signed just to play under him - can't blame them for that?

Whilst players get paid to play footy, they also play to win. It's naive to think that these guys just want power. They want to win. They want success. And for whatever reason - they believe that can happen with Benji.
Have you been asleep the past few years?
Papali’i, Galvin, Tallyn all walked away from contracts. The club moves players on under contract as well.
In the NRL, contracts don’t mean a thing.
There’s some movement on at the moment that Polynesians have this incredible culture. All this talk of the rise of Samoa and Tonga and their future successes. I’ve seen two highly regarded players this off season suggest one of them will be in next years World Cup final.
It has been widely suggested that our club will embrace this rise and it will shape our identity moving forward. Benji is onboard. That’s the boys club I’m theorising about.

A bit harsh i think mate ,I feel Benji is improving as a coach as i think our team will improve, let’s mark him on this year’s results
That’s what everyone said last year.
He needs help if he is to remain.
Starting last season with our game revolving around Galvin was crazy stupid. The poor way we ended 2025 leaves a very sour taste as well.
I think Benji should be used to bring players to the club, to retain up and coming stars and to be the face of the joint. I don’t think he should be their coach.

The Galvin attack was stupid should have been Luai and API with others chipping in

Benji needs a strong assistant coach who won't back stabbed him but I think he chats alot with Bennett which is great

I believe this year will be a make or break year for the club and Benji we should be close to the 8 at the end of the year

Bula should be put to bed before the season starts one way or another don't want that Sh!t again being played out in the press again during the season there is more than enough time to get it done

We could have easily held onto all 3 if we wanted to.

Is this a bad thing? I couldn't care what the make up of our team is from a cultural perspective. There's no DEI quotas in the NRL, so who cares what the split of anglos, lebbos, Kiwis, Samoans is?

If the tigers just so happen to lean in on the Samoan players and their top players see us as a destination club, that's a good thing isn't it?

Benji took a risk with Galvin that didn't pay off for him, but assisted in getting Galvin to where he wanted to be quicker. The Bulldogs coach did much the same.
I still believe the hype around him won't be misguided - he has the right mental attitude that makes up for any natural talent he may lack and expect the improvement in his game will be evident the more he plays and will give some justification for why both coaches backed him early

With his fitness he keeps opposition defences on their toes... one tackle hes on the open side of the ruck...next tackle hes on the blind sude...he never stops moving in attack and thats where hes dangerous...creating overlaps abd taking the ball to the line....
Knee injury would be devastating

As I understand the Bula situation, he is contracted until the end of 2026.
WT have an option to sign Bula on $900k for 2027, which expires mid May 2026. If WT don’t take up this option it triggers a Bula option to extend for 2027 at $800k.
If both options are declined then Bula is a free agent in November 2026.
WT have proposed, that rather than take up the $900k 2027 option , they scrap both trigger options and introduce a long term contract.
Details of the new WT deal are still being negotiated but the club obviously wants to tie up Bula at least until 2028 or maybe to 2030?
I know all the talk surrounding this contract has been positive, but with Richo not there to close the deal it’s anyone’s guess if the debenture team can make it happen?

I haven't been to the pub this year yet and my mate who worked at the Cowboys and Roosters is away and my other mate who is related to the Bulldogs coach is away as well and the guy who sister works at the Broncos has gone to Thailand for a few weeks apparently won't be back to the beginning of February

I have nothing I have not had any alcohol this year yet I was trying to go January dry and then make a run up until season starts if I go to Juniors I will get gossip but will drink 🍻

I think the challenge will be whether his ego can handle not playing 6 if they deem him to be a #13
