Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The numbers don’t lie. In two years as head coach he’s increased our wins by 50% each year.

The same result this year would see us scrape into the eight.

I think our young forward pack and the off field stuff will likely derail that, but it’s harsh to not recognise that we are improving.
Our roster is improving and that’s adding a couple of extra wins.

At the end of the day, Benji is a rookie coach who was appointed the head NRL coach by HBG when he had no experience as a coach. The same HBG extended him to 2030 after he got the spoon and finished 13th.

Ill humour you for a moment and assume Benji did have full control of the roster since 2022... Wtf does that say about HBG decision to give him the contract they just did?
You don’t need to convince me that they have no idea. I’ve been saying that for years.

Don't we all know that when Benji started he was on his L plates, what were you expecting instant success, last season you could say it was the last year of his P's and I'd be expecting now for him to show something more from what he's learnt probably the hardest way at this club.

If this season doesn't improve again than he should seek more help for the coaching dep.
This is a professional elite standard competition.
I don’t want a coach on his Ls or Ps or even one just graduated to his full license.

It will be interesting to see how he goes once he gets here and starts playing, but I don't currently see where Andrews fits. I reckon centre could be his go. Got a good step and can pass a bit. Kicks goals. Not sure of his speed, that will be his big issue. Could be a lock one day too.

Why would you consider failure a pass?
We should not reward mediocrity in any form.
What's the saying, Rome wasn't built overnight or whatever... I'd prefer we build the right way for long term success.

In the EPL Mikel Arteta has been copping flack for not winning anything for the last 5 seasons, but he was building toward something. Now arsenal sit at the top of the PL and top of the champions league. Their bench at the moment would make most PL starting sides.

And again, context, if Luai Bula and API are injured for half the season then we'd have to factor that in. The club and roster was a shambles for years, that takes time to fix.

Depth. Let's say Luai makes origin. Douhei goes down. Latu does his shoulder again.. we have cover..

Idk besides a few of those names i dont rate many of those players personally, besides Api Bula Luai Turuva, Mays , And Samuela are proven NRL with quality Although i do agree hes underachieved. But the one bloke you need to drop from your list and often is Bateman. He was a joke when he was here and has continued to be one. He has the power of a mozzie. absolute joke and shouldnt be getting anywhere near what we paid him. Had to go... I seriously cant watch that bloke play. It must be my dislike for the guy for the life of me idk how the hell hes playing NRL.
Im referring to when they first came here more than what they actually played like once in our system.

I actually find this whole concept of Benji having control of the roster since 2022 hilarious...I can assure you that Tim Sheens and Warren Mcdonnel were not taking their queues from an inexperienced assistant coach. They may have involved him in recruitment and even used him to convince players to come on board, however he was not in control. You may find that some of this recruitment incompetence esp Bateman, Klemmer and some of the junior player deals were what got them punted from their roles.
Sheens is on record in 2022 saying Benji has the last say on recruitment as he will be the future coach.
If he wanted them, he got them. It was his team that Sheens was baby sitting.

Well unfortunately for you Tuck it looks like for now you're stuck with him.

So I guess there's nothing else to say but, suck it up Leroy.
I have resigned to that fact 2 years ago. I’m not at peace with it, but have accepted it.
Won’t stop me commenting though, especially when people try to gaslight others about his achievements as coach.

I've never talk him up as a good coach, I know he has a long way to go but I want him to get there eventually.

He's a club legend and as passionate supporters why wouldn't we want him to succeed, but it needs to happen not too far into the future.

Do you actually talk like this at footy games? Have you even seen grass or drank a beer? Are you a virgin? Lighten up hahahaha. It's footy, its the tigers. I can't help but feel like you have a profound misunderstanding of the club you support and what that means.

I was 17 years old at Benji's debut and he played footy like a Pablo Picasso painting, man it was so, so, so, so, so good for many many fantastic years after that, and I don't care about much else except I just hope that bloody legend is as successful as a coach as he was a player. Just imagine it man. Club is getting some swagger again with legit good players and cult heros, and good youngsters too. Man I'd take today over those miserable dour seasons with Madge, Jason Taylor and Potter!

No one is 'gaslighting' anyone on here. The Tigers' record over the last decade is too terrible to even attempt to 'gaslight' -- (That is if you actually understand the etymology of gaslighting") We can't retroactively sneak in a Top 8 finish into tigers history, hahaha and tell you we finished in the top 4 last year, and make you doubt your sanity. Its probably the least gaslight-able thing in existence,.
