Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes that’s exactly what I did, compare their football careers 😂 seriously

The distraction was the same. And they didn’t have to keep moving halves.
I think the disruption was the same for both clubs as well. However I think it was a lack of quality forward depth that impacted both clubs results, not whatever was happening off field with their halves contacts.

Doueihi played 3-4 games at 7, tops.
How’s he supposed to own the 7 from centre?
He played 21 games this year, it’s not like he wasn’t available.

Maybe as an organisation we just made a bad decision there, and well before there?

Maybe trying to turn an 18 yr old kid who made a heap of release requests before he even debuted into the face of the organisation is / was the problem?
He played 7 against Parra and had a game to forget. They are right Doueihi stepped up towards the end of the year.

Yeah
- like I said, he had 4 games in total at 7.
The first earlier against Parra and his last 3 games for the year.

So - he stepped up at 7 in 3/4 games he played there for the season
(despite training at centre)?

I have no distaste for Benji
at all, quite the opposite in fact.
I’ll be the first one to laud all involved when I’m not watching what I watched last year.

I’ve seen muppets here blame, the halfback, the coach, the other coach,
the ceos haircut, a sponsors hat and whatever else, now it’s a 19yr old (who’s ego wasn’t kept in check) that we dragged up early from junior reps.
it’s his fault!

So what you’re saying, is I’m allowed to have any dodgy scapegoat for us being absolutely garbage - as long as it’s not different to your (ever shifting) scapegoat.

The squad we fielded last year is the best we have in years - and it was well short of where it should have been. You can make all the excuses you like.

Let’s not use Panthers, let’s use a hapless Parra - played most the year without their best player, and the other best player over a many years (their Galvin) in ressies or not playing at all.
Still finished above us.

it’s the same old every year! It really is…
A sick part of me looks forward to next years excuses
- here’s hoping we have mass injuries, a sacking or natural disaster to hold accountable.
Parra are absolutely Spooners without Mosses, all that is saying based on last year is Moses is better than Jerome with an average team around him..We just need all our best players in there position all season,no injuries.🐯☝️

It’s not comparing their careers, it’s comparing their impact.
Luai should have been in charge from the outset but irrespective, he definitely should have taken the team forward after Galvin left. He mouthed off in the media a couple of times but showed no leadership on the field.

Look, the squad last year was a good squad. Till you realise how light our forward pack was.
Seriously we lost Bateman, Klemmer, Papalii and Stefano. Only to replace them with T May and Hunt (who underperformed/was misused).
We got LUCKY, so LUCKY that Terrell May was a gun and only Pole got injured.

But ofcourse we offer our usual Skape Goat sacrifices. Sadly with Pascoe gone, we can no longer blame the CEO's haircut for our failings, Perhaps our CEO's weird last name may suffice Miekencamp or something.

Yes Parra did outperform us, they were also Very weird.
Did you see their coaching staff. Nathan Cayless and a bunch of forwards except one person who I think played 9/center??

Ofcourse with JAC, Lomax and Mitchell they probably did not need much training. But you see the focus with Parra, get 1 side of your game RIGHT.

Picking a scapegoat is a useless exercise at a club that has failed for years and has a line up of scapegoats with little to show for it
Crazy that the latest one actually made some improvements and was pushed out anyway.
We are not good enough no argument there but the club falls down in every facet apart from the supporter level.
Until the investment and managerial structure of the club improves the reality is that we will be living on a hope and a prayer. All clubs strengthen their rosters every year that's the nature of the game and the stronger clubs rebuild quickly - well documented why. We should be aiming for improvement every year, but so is every other club we are up against who do things better.
History will show poorly run clubs do not achieve ongoing success in a professional sporting competition and the evidence is there in this competition to prove it despite which players we recruit and no matter who the coach is. Target any individual and can guarantee the road to success at this club is like pushing sh@$ uphill.
The common denominator in our failure continues to reign supreme while those who are held accountable move on and find success elsewhere.

No coach will ever succeed here under the Holman Barnes Group. The clowns hired him in the first place & have just given him the longest contract of any coach in the NRL.

Douehi's best games were at 7 later in the season when there were little options and once there he stayed put because there was little else to choose from.
Latu constantly injured, Mason and Api didn't work and Luai better at 6.
Galvin leaving left a gap that wasn't easily filled and walked straight into the Bulldogs winning halves combination so not the only club prepared to back Galvin in completely different scenarios both with high risk

I think the disruption was the same for both clubs as well. However I think it was a lack of quality forward depth that impacted both clubs results, not whatever was happening off field with their halves contacts.
This became evident early when Pole was in good form and went down injured.

Just one forward down and we displayed struggle street, at least this has been recognised and we have added some depth, not there yet but improving.

Seriously guys like @tigahhh @user118245 @liltiger should be in charge of the social media team, they would do a better job!
If I'm helping run the socials you know the clubs going under 🤪
If I was running the joint I'd be doing a Wests Tigers T.V monthly subscription. All grades apart from first grade live. All junior trials live. All interviews, weekly show with the players and coaching staff from all grades and nrlw. All locker room access. N.R.L obviously would be on fox as would nrlw, but you could run replays. It wouldnt need to be exceptional video quality, just what were using now to stream all our lower grade mens, womens, junior games live. One monthly price for members and one a bit more expensive for non members.Wests Tigers t.v

Twal is pushing 10 years as a staple of our pack and you don’t consider him a 1st grader? Good luck getting away with that.

I wouldn’t have to go back too far to see all those that thought signing Royce Hint was going to revolutionise the pack - and an upgrade on Stefano.
probably could still find some hangers on at that.
I don't, but I only don't because of 2023 and earlier.
2024/2025 he really started to toughen up. ...

In fairness I should start calling Twal a first grader. He has been at that level lately. In the past he was definately reserve grade. Ok I will move on.

They did what we should have done,
Put a recently experienced NRL Coach in beside their Rookie Coach.
Ah yes, they put coach Nathan Brown as assistant.

"Head Coach Jason Ryles, supported by assistants Nathan Brown, Scott Wisemantel, Sam Moa, and Nathan Cayless"

I just can't believe that we had Shane Flanagan ready to be assistant to Madge and we knocked him back.

Madge would have been knifed by Flanno before we even got close to the wooden spoon. Then we could have been totally mediocre and whinging about Kyle F being signed up for 5 years.

Instead we have the reality of Tim Sheens smack us in the face.
