There really couldn't be a better encapsulation of fan forums than slating the current incumbent at a position who appears to be just about to be re-signed and instead wish casting as a replacement a player who has never played the position and doesn't appear to be anywhere near the club's plans.

So he hasnt predominantly played prop has he? He has occasionally, and that was due to the old "make sure your best player gets the ball often" coaching. They couldn't leave him on one edge and risk him not getting the pill.

You made a mistake saying he has predominantly played prop, I have no idea why thats so hard for you to admit. I have already acknowledged he was poor last week, and I think he has guys really nipping at his heels for his depth spot. This is his last year on contract yes?

Agreed. He is a bit undersized IMO. Needs to sort out his orange skin too, although the fact he can fly would probably be helpful. Has a bit of mongrel but all his woke stuff around speaking for the trees - keep politics out of sport, thanks. Good moustache though.

In regards to the offers - is he any different to Bula, who if he wasn't open to other offers would have signed already. There's no loyalty in professional sport - take the NBA, MLB, NFL or EPL as examples. It's every athlete for themselves because there's no loyalty anywhere if the offer is good enough. Clubs have none so why should the players.

Manu is signed to French Rugby up until end 2027 & good mates with Temu May & no doubt Benji was an idol lol If he misses selection in the All Blacks for the RWC in '27, maybe he'll try to return to club with a fullback opportunity. You never know.

In regards to the offers - is he any different to Bula, who if he wasn't open to other offers would have signed already. There's no loyalty in professional sport - take the NBA, MLB, NFL or EPL as examples. It's every athlete for themselves because there's no loyalty anywhere if the offer is good enough. Clubs have none so why should the players.

You make some very interesting points.
Not so long ago I was making exactly the same point that we could potentially sign much more proven quality players than Bula for the same, if not less money.
WHEN Zac Lomax is motivated he is a much better quality player than what Bula has so far shown and I agree it’s highly likely Lomax would be a quality fullback if he put his mind to it.
For the record I still maintain a younger Jaxon Purdue is better than both of them and he is currently available for 2027 and beyond.
In saying all of this I have come around to the thinking that Bula could have plenty of improvement left in him which will hopefully start to show in 2026 if all the dominoes fall into place.
In a perfect world Bula will re-sign with us and his form will go through the roof helping us to a top 8 or better finish in 2026.
But I do agree it’s not the end of the world if he declines our offer, decides to head elsewhere and we make other plans for 2027 and beyond.

Joey Manu would be good. Good guy, good player, won't be here.

Yet it's the more exotic items. Sualili is a real Non-possibility, I am sure were like the 25th contract option for him.

Pretty happy with Taylan May and the competition we have on the other side.

Our halves are the key...we've had a bog average forward pack for years which has played a part in poor attack. Last season better, but not enough depth.

Halves have everything they need to be successful and pile on points.

This season, hard to make excuses.

It’s very hard to work out what is going through Zac Lomax’ mind, I don’t think he even knows himself.
High class player at his best though, it’s a shame he has ruined his own reputation.
I don’t think he would be on Benji’s radar, although he has openly stated he was a massive Wests Tigers and Benji Marshall fan in his younger days.

I'd put Teddy above Walsh mainly due to consistency. - Teddy produces year after year. Walsh while being quite a talent has yet to show that he can keep that level over a full season.

If Eels end up having to accept that he plays NRL, Lorax is not picking us. He is picking Melbourne.
