Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Is that a bad thing ?
I’d much rather that than players who let opponents intimidate them.
As I posted last night I’m still not sure if I would include Seyfarth in our top 19 for round 2, but that’s not to say he will not contribute very well off the bench as a middle forward for us if selected.
As a bench middle forward he’s NRL quality without any shadow of doubt, but he’s competing against players such as Sione Fainu, Bunty Afoa and Royce Hunt who are all powerful ball runners that should help us get on the front foot and now also competing against Charlie Murray who has added noticeable size to assist with his smart passing game and high energy & effort.
How would Bellamy react if one of his players had his mind on the niggle when his side had a red zone opportunity? He’d be screaming play the f$&n ball through the walkie-talkie and probably hook him. Those are the not negotiables Seyfarth needs to learn.

Not everyone is going to come through at 18 like Makasini.

I said he'll be ready to replace Geyer next year who will start in NSW Cup, not that he was a potential superstar. By the time he's 21, I think he'll be a starting NRL forward somewhere. He's tall enough, and will bulk up in the next couple of years.
Realistically forwards are probably 23-24 before they really start to peak. Hoping to see that from Pole this year. I wasn’t very impressed with his trial like some others have said.

Ryan Matterson is seeking medical opinion after suffering a concussion in the preseason (via SMH)

Matterson previously missed multiple weeks (6 weeks in 2018, 4 in 2021, 4 in 2024) with ongoing concussion symptoms. Considering all of this puts some doubt on his playing future.

I heard he got headaches after calculating if he should pay the fine a few years ago as opposed to missing on playing. Mmmm….i really did

Mavrik Geyer looking to follow in His father’s footsteps and go to Perth… apparently in talks with them … probably not a major shock after only signing here for 1 year …. But may not be getting a lot of time in the NRL team with the Tigers this season is he jumps ship…
I think we knew that when signing him. He's minimum wage and showed a bit the other night. Good luck to him. From all reports he's training the house down so you can't fault his attitude.

Mate I would like Godinet and Moors to play two or three games off the bench this year get a taste for NRL and another off this for there body's to grow and aim to play 8 to 10 games next year

I think Godinet could be a poor man's SBW or take off and be something very special

Also if they have amazing break out seasons this year we will need A Rooster size salary Cap to keep them no way we can have Big Mac break out and the two younger forwards break out in the same season
Seriously? Sbw was 20cm and 20kgs bigger than Godinet. There's absolutely nothing similar between them, completely different players

I thought he went well. Remember they need to fill Perth and PNG so we are going to lose some decent juniors and state cup players - which we are use to. Just need to make sure we are retaining our best.

Need to make sure the May brothers, the Fainus and Makasini are all extended:

Hopefully, "the times they are a-changin'"

Months not weeks, we also offered and signed him to a 1yr deal. Some people need to take a chill pill.
I thought he played well in his limited time on the field against the Panthers.
He showed he has the ability to play on an edge and in the middle, which will put him well and truly in the discussion for our NRL bench.
I have no idea if he’s looking at Perth Bears as an option or not for 2027, but he could be very handy for us in 2026.

Agree. More the point most squads have a few roster spots on year deals - it’s smart roster management. If Geyer has a break out year that would be a big win for us & something most didn’t bank on. Would also be a confidence boost to our recruitment activities.
