Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Bula is like any other player, he is worth what the market is willing to pay. Like with the housing market you only need two serious bidders at an auction to get a good result. To us Bula is probably worth more than market value as we don’t have a obvious replacement in the short term.
I agree with the sentiment but who is the 2nd serious bidder? Maybe Dragons, what are they offering?

Bronson Xerri has requested an immediate release from the Dogs .. still only 25 .. should we have crack .. ??
Xerri is a pass. Character issues. Our days of picking up scraps are over. Send him to Dragons.
Not a starter in front of..

Skelton
Taylan May
Makasini/Toa
Turuva

Save our money for a lock, prop or fullback (pending Bula) or a hybrid prop/2nd row upgrade on Seyfart

Would normally agree but problem we could have 2 long term
Injuries on that list yours

I would have thought if you are trying to convince fans to travel to Vegas you do everything you can to make the match-up exciting and mean something.

So you are saying both teams are travelling there anyway, yet the NRL would purposely not put them up against each other "because most local fans want to see these" even though "most local fans" will see us on Easter Monday.

Do you think, in hindsight, your logic is sound?
Based on past Vegas games it does not appear that the NRL have been looking for rivalry match ups.

Easter Monday next year is March 29 (very close to Round 0). Whether I was willing to go to Vegas would be more the experience (and if I wanted to spend the money) and the decision would not depend on who we were playing.

Especially seeing my family see us play Eels each year anyway 15 minutes from home without having to travel and pay thousands and dollars.

Will you only go if Wests Tigers are playing Eels? and not go if playing Titans/Dolphins?

has a head that resembles a smashed crab .Teach our kids some tenacity then sail off into the sunset
That usually doesn't work for us. I doubt he would sign a 1 year deal.

Look we hired Tamou, we hired Packer, Matalino, Klemmer... I am honestly trying to think of us hiring an old hat prop and it working for us.

^this isn't a good thing. We should be able to hire an older player and get them to teach our younger squad. What Benji is doing though is working, and I am happy to pay more to get the pack Benji wants.

They try to make out they're a good club but they look like a toxic/poisonous destination to me with the amount of player turnover.
It's good that players see that the Bulldogs are poisonious...

I just never get why Easts are not seen the same way. They spew players out at a drop of a hat. Why on earth players are loyal to that flight deck I have no idea.

Look Xerri is a starter infront of Skelton and Toa... But I don't see that happening.
Honestly would swap Xerri for either, but I suspect both will talk to Bird and ask "What happened at the tigers". ... Whatever happened wasn't good for bird.

Skelton does add a fair bit to our side. It has been ages since we had a winger that actually can tackle. Yes he is far from perfect, but he does cross the line and last year stopped us from being the leaky try team we were.

I suspect we will focus on locking down Makasini who can learn a lot from May/Turuva.

I’m not really talking about who personally decides to travel to Vegas. in every match, far more watch it on TV than go to the game so it's not relevant who goes or not. I’m talking about the opportunity the league may have missed.

If the teams play twice anyway, a Parra vs Tigers opener in Vegas seems like an obvious rivalry matchup and good television. Like I said, most fans watch on TV, not in the stadium.

You don’t see it as a missed opportunity, which is fine. I just think the NRL could have created a bigger storyline.

This whole things stinks of prawn shells. Gus has probably come up with a plan to get the kid a deal elsewhere with a longer deal and more cash in exchange for a better player.
