Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Some of our supporters and some in the media keep saying we are not interested in Bronson Xerri as we have plenty of centres including Starford To’a.
Injuries aside, who in their right mind would choose To’a over Xerri ?
IF Xerri is stipulating he only wants to play left centre, I could then understand why we are not interested as we really need a right centre.
You’re not choosing toa over Xerri , you’re choosing May and Makasini. He wants only left side , and we do not have a spot there for him .

There is something tn the story more than what is being reported in the media.
Xerri was one of the Bulldogs best players last season, he plays reasonably well in a winning team in round 1 to then be dropped for their next game ?
To me that indicates a fallout with a senior player such as Crichton is believable.
Would Bula really want to play for a team where you can be the flavour of the month, then within a short period of time you are on the outter ?
Don’t be surprised if Purdue ends up at the Bulldogs, there is no way possible they are choosing Bula over Purdue if they had a choice of them both.
Mate , what if Bula chooses the saints , I can see them going to 1.1m for him , what if Purdue is another Benji disciple . This idea that the bulldogs have first dibs is not true as of recent history . There’s only 1 player we have been in direct competition with the dogs about that has chosen them over us . And I’m glad that happened .
I can see th dogs and bula linking up because , as long as they roll the red carpet out for Galvin , Bula will be there . It means they have half thier spine for the next 5-7 years .
I’m not a Drinkwater fan per se , but if we need someone for a year or 2 to apply pressure and transition between the young fullbacks we have coming through , and offer a sure thing , I’m ok with that . I think Attard will be an nrl fullback . I think Brookes -Deninger will make nrl ,just not sure if it’s wing or fullback . They both need to hit the gym though .

I enjoy it for the most part. Not a fan of Kemp but don't mind the others, big fan of Tim Williams analytics and enjoy Matty giving more of a typical fan perspective.
I get the constant adds are a bit of a necessary evil for them to make their money but the percentage of adds within the show seems to be growing every year. Just getting to the point where I can't be bothered sitting through it anymore.
What platform are you streaming on?

Yea I just skip 30 seconds. All American podcast like ones from the ringer have an as every 30 minutes . I couldn’t tell you what any of them are , as I skip as soon as they come up .
Yeah but where are you guys listening/watching?

I have young kids so I pay for youtube premium which removes the ads. Worth every cent. I still get the "in show" ones where denan promotes grumpy coffee etc but can skip that pretty easy.

Its the same with Spotify family premium- no ads.

If you can afford it, it definitely makes ingesting content ALOT better

Exactly, To'a is basically a placeholder for Makasini until he's ready to play centre week in week out which I assume would happen sometime next year. Signing Xerri would just block that and stifle Makasini, or result in Xerri AND To'a being in cup chewing up about 1mil in cap space. Happy to give To'a the job for the year, he still has upside and hopefully now that our right side is settled (with KPP and Doueihi) the defense will improve.

I agree that if we want to keep Makasini long term, we need a regular spot for him him at left centre and have to hope Taylan May is as effective and happy to play at right centre.
That being the case Skelton should be a high priority re-signing and it is only fullback that we need to sort out, either re-sign Bula or a quality replacement.

Nah I don’t need to do that . I do a lot of driving so I simply just listen to. Apple Podcasts . Skip the inbuilt ads.

Brent Read just said on radio that the Tigers are not interested in Xerri. The club is happy with its outside backs and don’t want to block Makasinis long term path in the centres. The link was only made because he and Benji share the same manager.

He also mentioned that the Tigers are looking at Scott Drinkwater if Bula doesn’t re-sign.
Fine with no Xerri, absolute no to drink water

He basically guided Doueihi to the ground on the weekend. He was one step away from laying a pillow down for him. One of the worst defensive efforts I’ve ever seen.
it was terrible defence, but he shouldn't have been on the field. Rib cartilage injuries are horribly painful.

I know he was injured, but I don’t even think that excuses that defensive effort. Word is he’s being rested this week. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been 86’d.

Usually Spotify, occasionally will watch on youtube. But it's not the platform adds, I mean more the in show adds. Like it's not brought to you by Grumpy Coffee it's 2-3 minutes of talking about the coffee. And bloke club members and sports bet and all the rest of it.
I mostly used to listen to podcasts whilst working and/or driving so can't always access the skip button. Still give them a listen from time to time but not to the same extent I used to due to the add content. But as I said, kind of a necessary evil as there would be no content without the sponsorship.

I really hope we are interested in Xerri and it’s just the club talking it down

We do need centres. We have Toa and May both carrying serious injuries, Skelton is often injured.

Xerri would be a permanent stay at centre, Maka can go back to the wing when May is fit

Toa can work his way back in on form

Skelton at centre and Lauilili on the wing is suspect IMO

I actually don't believe the forum concerns that Dogs are chasing Bula. The only real competition I think is Dragons and to a lesser extent Perth.
As Ive been saying every club has a flavour of the month fall out of favour shortly after. It's nothing unique to Dogs. I dont see anything there that would put Bula off.
Finally from those I know who have had a little to do with him and from how he is spoken about by teammates I don't believe there is any arrogance about Crichton.

Sounds like half a dozen clubs are keen.
