Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Bula walks and looking at the tea leaves that looks a real possibility, and we release him at the end of this season and don’t take up our option, we must get something worthwhile out of the deal and not a stack of cash.

We must get a player or a couple of standout juniors. For to long we have rolled over and basically got nothing out of letting a player walk. The Dogs gave us some cash for Galvin, but that doesn’t help our roster. We have to start playing hardball
If we dont take up the option, then we dont have any right to get something out of it as he is off contract.

The only way to get a player would be to take up the option, and then he tells us he wants out - then we negotiate...but it only happens if we take up the option.

Yep but we can tell the club who he wants to sign with, we are taking up our option unless you can offer us a deal that will change our minds

I’d try and get Conti back …if it was up to me .

Well that’s correct, the Titans are in no position to release him even if he was keen to move elsewhere.
In regards to Attard, what makes you think he will be an elite fullback in 2 years time ?
He’s an exciting young player with plenty of pace, but has not done anything special in NSW Cup just yet.

2 or 3 years … what will do if he is just an above average ,not elite, first grader only ?

IF we "we release him at the end of this season and don’t take up our option" there is no contractual obligation on either party, and they all go their separate ways. We can't do anything if he signs elsewhere as we have no leverage to use. How do you play hardball if you don't have leverage to use?

And then they go "do it" and what's the fall back. A player who doesn't want to be here on $900K for the year or we look foolish when we don't, just let him go if he's not interested in staying and invest elsewhere.

Atwood would be the plan…

I don’t want Brimson until the end of 2030 getting paid $850k a year and neither would you in reality…

It’s not going to happen anyway … so I’ll move on
At some point it would be really nice if we stopped focusing on trying to win in 2 to 3 years time and just focused on winning now.
You’re also not going to sign any decent fallback on a two year deal

Well guess what buddy ….there are rumours Plan A is walking out the door…so they are going to need to do something in the meantime !

I’ve named two short term options … Tracey if Bula joins the Dogs…or Drinkwater preferably but that might take a 3 year deal you would assume

Was doing a job today and started talking to the lawn mower contractor cutting the grass interesting conversation this guy is best mates with Galvin old man.
He told me about the deal with the dogs was done 18months prior to Galvin leaving the tigers between Gould Galvin and the assistant coach Vella who was the major driving force in getting Galvin to the dogs.
Not that I care I am glad he's gone and we all basically knew it already.

As for Bronson Xerri he has come to training late a few times but the real reason they want to move him on because Mat Burton has a big money offer from the Perth bears and his partner is form WA, the dogs want to keep Burton and Burton does not mind if he moves to the centres eventually to accommodate Galvin he did say that Galvin will eventually move to 13 as they have another promising junior coming through who will partner Woods in the halves, As for Xerri I think he will be moved on pretty soon my bet is he will be at the storm.

No tigers news just a rumour and gossip I thought I would share.
The Bulldogs seem to be very good at taking the air out of stories. The Bronson Xerri story seems to have died a death. One of the girls who works for me has a partner at the Bulldogs. Things aren't as rosy as King Bulldog would have you believe. Galvin isn't popular and there's going to be a lot of pissed off 'pathway' players asking for releases if another 'generational player' (Bula) gets signed over the top of their juniors.
