Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t get people wanting to move AD , he and luai look great together , madden does not run the ball yes he kicks deep but for me not much better than AD , maddens defence is not as good as AD , we have 4 1/2s , and benji has to pick two , luai locks down one spot , the other 3 are fighting for one spot , we can only carry one one the bench, latu will get that spot , because benji needs to keep his brothers happy , it’s just the why things go
Madden has by far the better kicking game. Perhaps their range is similar, maybe even doueihi can kick it further, but Madden's placement, awareness and kick selection with his kicking is on another level. He is our best kicker. If you want any evidence of that simply look at who Benji gave kicking duties to.

We were an absolute rabble in our sets of 6 yesterday: players missing passes, running sideways, getting stuck in narrow spaces out wide on the last. Madden repeatedly produced important well placed kicks to get us out. Very hard for half backs to do that.

I don't believe it's necessarily forever, but for the good of the team madden has earnt the 7 and deserves to keep it until performance says otherwise. I think it's an important moment for Benji in managing this team, proving to the players that he means what he says and that all players have equal treatment.

Maybe opposition teams manage to disrupt madden and he becomes too predictable and allow teams to suffocate options outside of him, so a more dynamic runner like doueihi becomes vital, but at present madden is the perfect style of player at 7 to the dynamic elite running talent on the edges. You want them getting good early ball and you want someone guiding team around. That's not really doueihi's strength.

I like doueihi a lot, I think he's a terrific halfback option compared to most of the league. However, madden is playing at too high a level to drop him from his halfback spot.

The Gould propaganda machine in full throttle - for a laugh listen to the story he has concocted and the lead up from Gal - "I didn't really want to discuss this but...".
If I'm Ciraldo I would be fuming.
Yep it makes Ciraldo look weak and very much a fool. If what Gould says is true why would Ciraldo not just come out and say that - nothing wrong with saying the medical teams initial assessment was that Crichton would come back on so the decision to put SOS on was made with that information. Gould is such a sneaky shit - Ciraldo should be getting a little worried when Gould starts overiding his reasons as to why a decision was ade.

It sounds very much like Ciraldo has had an argument/fall out with Xerri and being an arrogant and stubborn figure he really doesn’t want to include him in the team, but is now getting overruled by Gus.

Gould really enjoys lying. It's funny the way he concocts that story. All that tells us is that he thinks Ciraldo made a big error and he's covering for him. No defending the decision at all in his little fantasy. Interesting how that plays out now that Gould is not agreeing with Ciraldo. In Gould's own mind, has he ever got anything wrong? And If not, how do you make sure people know you're not to blame? I think these perceptions matter more to Gould than winning or loyalty to a coach.

Remember, most gifted teenager he's ever seen.

Someone has obviously had a long chat to Sukkar in the off season and explained that forwards have to run the ball.
He was regularly having 4 touches for 20 or 30 metres. He had a game where he went 30 minutes for zero metres.
This year he's a different player and is finally using his size to pick up dirty yardage.
Sukkar will be a beast in a few years....hang onto him

Brent Read went with that concocted story on NRL 360 last night.
My medical expertise from my loungeroom 1000km's away told me Crichton was cooked/ done/ kaput/gonski.

I would think JL would go real well outside a proper 7 like Jock.
For me It would be Jock at 7, JL at 6, and Doobs at lock or centre or cover for injuries. Doobs is going well too but he hogged it again yesterday and cost us a try if not 2. And Jock’s got the best kicking game at the club.

Crichton would not be coming off if it was just a burner or could be sorted with a pain killer, especially with the game in the balance and them coming off a loss. This is all now arse covering from Gould.

It's a risky signing (Kit to the Bears).
He hasn't played since the trial due to concussion so he must be just about 1 head knock away from a medical retirement.
I wish him the best though, he has the talent to be a very good middle.
Surely it means Bears won't target Skelton now. I'd say highly likely he'll stay with us unless he wants to go back closer to family in SE Queensland (maybe Dolphins will target him with Isaako going).
