Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tavana signs , again this is not the priority we should be seeing , May Snr and Bulla are the 2 priority , our ceo is rubbish , a board puppet , and as other have said he doesn’t respond to emails ( I’m a member ) he just floats around hard questions , totally controlled by the board , piss weak , needs to go , and the board will be back in the headlines when bulla leaves and May brothers leave , hopeless lot of individuals with no football club experience

We'll pick up his extension which means he's signed to end of 27.

He's not going anywhere. Moses knows he has his client a contract guaranteed with us for 900k.

We've been trying to extend him past the current extension deal, but Bula won't sign. That's fine. We only need him for this year and next before we need to get a replacement. We'll find someone in that time.

If we pick the extension, it just delays the problem for another 7 months as he can negotiate again after November this year. I think that is part of the challenge.

I’d ask Bula what’s the fee to payout Moses contract with him and say we will consider going halves for you to fark him off.

Hope we put a blanket club ban over him going forward. The guy is a cancer.
Given Bula's religious leanings, I would have thought Moses would not be the first choice. This is a bloke who persuaded a client to lie in front of the integrity unit.

Can think of much better options.

If he says how he really feels and does whats best for the football club he will lose his job like Richo.

Our only hope for something to change is the club regulator forcing change at HBG at a board level.

NRL market watch: Wests Tigers pull out of Drinkwater race as $1m price tag threatens to rise

With the Wests Tigers officially out of the Scott Drinkwater race, the Dragons look to be competing with themselves, but that hasn’t stopped his price from rapidly rising.

Not 8 years after Sheen's left in 2012 like the post said

Yes Sheen's contracts effected seasons 2013 -2014 and he had to pay very big overs to keep Tedesco at the backend of 2011 because Teddy was off to the Dragons in 2012 if he did not pay

Sorry Mate! -- I think you've misunderstood me. Or I've been unclear.

My only big gripe with Sheens was that he pushed the Board to pick either him as Coach or Longmuir as CEO. One had to leave, it was Sheens' ultimatum. Mostly because Sheens refused to have his performance measured...even after 4 years out of the 8 after being premiers.

So that CEO got the sack. It was a real political move and it had consequences. In came Stephen Humphries, who started messing around with the back ended contracts and ruined our roster.

You're making a lot of assumptions here.
We know that negotiations with Bula had been on going. Who knows where they are at now. If Bula has indicated he is definitely testing the market (not necessarily leaving but just seeing what is out there) and he has been offered his maximum value here, it's not really on the CEO that negotiations have stalled.
Yes, it was revealed by May he had chats with Richo and none with SM as of a few months ago. A simple conversation is probably all that was needed at that point. Has it been had? Has actual negotiations commenced? Again who knows.

Yep, if Richo was still here, we would NOT be in this situation... SM has shown me that he is not up to being our CEO long term...

Yeah...but it doesn't derail our season like last year. If he won't sign wuth us, pushing it past November 1 is the absolute best thing we can do in a scenario like this.

Believe me I understand different components.

We must already have Bula signed then one would think

Why would Terrell May want to leave the club ? The guy was a low profile mid level benchie at the Roosters … now he is a social media megastar and big name in the game all in the space of 15 months …he has experienced firsthand the rise from being told he wasn’t wanted by a club like the Roosters to where he is now … also playing with his brother is important to him …

Surely provided they offer him a deal equal to his worth then he will extend … get it done sometime in the next 6 months before other teams can formally offer him a deal

Not understanding the logic ,,,if he is their “puppet” why haven’t they made him the full time CEO and not still the interim ?

Also ..if he leaves won’t they just put in another puppet ?

Maybe he didn’t respond to your emails because he’s busy trying to sign Bula and May to extensions 🤷‍♂️.

Other than not responding to every Tom, Richard and Harry’s emails what exactly has he done wrong?

This is a very very short sighted view and I don't think you really understand how negotiation, cap and squad management works.

Its important to get the lower end of the roster sorted early. In the case of Tavana, it was a very smart move locking up Tino now. He has only played 2 games and is on a train and trial. Re-signing him now has resulted in getting him on a cheap development deal for 27' and probably a very very cheap deal for 28' and 29'.

If they had waited until later in the year, he probably would have had more NRL games which means his price would have gone up and other clubs coming in showing interest. We would have risked getting in a bidding war. Signing him early essentially means we have an NRL player for 3 more years on minimum wage rather than perhaps 300k or so if we had waited. That now means we have an extra 120-150k to re-sign the more expensive guys on the roster like Terrell, Taylan and Jahream.

The issue we have had in the past is signing and overpaying the big guns (contracts), filling out our cap and then having no money left to sign quality mid range players and getting stuck with unproven rookies and journeymen no one else wanted on bad deals.

Your view is that the club shouldn't sign *anyone* until they have re-signed May and Bula?

It was 2003 and Sheenuis did push for LO and found the equipment Bellamy would not have worked out at the Tigers

Bellamy had so much more to work with in Melbourne a 1 city club with lots of money and a different mindset to Sheen's and Royce

Sheenuis was perfect for the club a desperate coach willing to work with what he could scrap together and Royce did more the just Witches Hats they had trust and a great friendship

And Sheenuis had a harder time with the board then any another coach

A big kid, but with big ambitions or a big ego?
He has to be better than our 2 current prospects in the front row;
Christiam Taupau-Moores - was my prospect hopeful a couple of years ago but not getting rave reviews now. I haven't seen him play of late.
Broederlow - no idea of his progress, but does get the occasional mention.
BWG - Do we have any other props looking like NRL potential?
On the Contrary. i have seen all the State cup and Flegg matches on Bar TV and the Flegg are going well. I have been impressed by Christian T. M , especially his game a couple of weeks ago when they beat the warriors. he looks bigger this year and more confident , has a good off load. still young ,be patient. Also like the looks of Archie Duncombe in Flegg, reminds me of the old fashon prop, rolls the sleeves up. There young, but good coaching should see them progress through the ranks. Just a mention on Phoenix Godinet, this guy is the real deal, i thought his effort in Flegg against Parramatta, where they were solidly beaten by a parramatta team that was very physical in defence for Flegg standard, and Phoenix was mixing it up with them and was good on the edge. Have seen Lachlan B a couple times this season and on Sunday when they played the Knights, i think he is coming along okay and not giving up on him yet. If you don't have it and you want to keep up with the lower grades get onto Bar TV, it costs me about $20 per month and you can watch live or replay. as West Tigers supporters we certainly have a lot to look forward to. Go Tiges.

Heard some noise over the weekend that big red from Canberra may be on the move.

I know we pretty much had him signed sealed and delivered, before he backflipped to stay with Ricky.

You’d think if this turns into something, we may be the first club contacted.

Thoughts?
I have always liked him but don't see where he would fit in with us. He would also be on some decent coin as well and i think he has dropped off a little this year, while similar players with us are playing well (Twal + Sione)

Yeah I think we are pretty comfortable in the forwards department in terms of regular first graders

Only way we sign him is if either Alex S. or Pole are leaving.

I think our money should be used towards retention, and perhaps an elite centre if one becomes available.

Otherwise, I think our roster is more than capable of winning the premiership if we avoid injuries and they stay in form
