If you could get him for 4 years on 850K you’d be pretty happy.

Olakau’atu deal he signed back in late 2023 was $7-8mil for 8 years …

Now our boy isn’t quite as good …but surely two and a half years later he will get close to a mil per year ?

I’m talking about the players waiting …why not wait for the broadcast deal to be done to see what the salary cap is likely to be , and even possibly test the market like Luai has done at the first opportunity?

Why is it this just occurs at the tigers ? Ponga just resigned at the knights...

Ponga resigning could mean PNG was not that great of an offer , I don’t know if they offered him a deal but he would have been a big signing for them and has decided to stay at knights , maybe Luai does the same , PNG to me will be a battle to get up and running smooth , I don’t think it’s a great place to live and players would need protection along with family , it is a very violent place with laws that just don’t get followed , think kidnappings , Robberies , murder , but it’s not like hear in Australia , up there it’s nasty , I had a mate who ran 2 warehouses and he said he was glad to get back here after his contract expired and yes he earned good money , he said screw the money it’s just not safe , he has no regrets coming back and working for about 50 k less , you can go hame and relax hear

Was just in a third world country for six weeks with my wife and kids. Was great but was ready to leave after 4 weeks. Just can’t do anything freely. Quite depressing

I would also imagine that if Laui joins and the team starts losing games while he under delivers on the field like he did for us last year, the reaction would be pretty intense. Anyone that goes over there as the "main man" will have a fair bit of pressure on their shoulders.

The way the PNG PM framed it was that its great that such a high profile player is showing an "interest" in the Chiefs....not wants to come on board....could be clutching at straws however it was not a really confident statement of Luai's intent. My understanding is that there is a young fella in PNG that has wraps on him to play 5/8 so what they really need is a organizing 7....Luai aint that.
