Let's back up a bit.
We bought a million dollar #6 and played him at #7 to accomodate a 19 year old who is no longer at the club. That wasn't Luai's fault. But even though he was out of position, he helped change the culture and lift standards in the same season. As far as I am concerned, there was a return on the million dollar investment in 2025.
Fast forward to 2026 (with a full preseason at #6 under his belt) and Luai's form is far better than people give him credit for. Luai had 5 try assists and 1 try in his first two game. What else could you want?
Then he got injured. Came back against the Broncos, was OK and didnt miss any tackles. Had 5 tackle breaks and a try assist against the Raiders - pretty good if you ask me.
Then the team dropped off a cliff against the Sharks and Storm, so we cant bag him for that. In patches vs the Storm, I thought I saw glimpses of a red hot Luai.
As far as I am concerned, he's playing like a million dollar player.
