The 2025 version of Shibasaki yes, but he has not backed that up this season.
He is also a specialist left centre where we hope to have Taylan May fit and playing with Makasini as his back up.
In any case our team lacks speed, so someone like Averillo would help rectify this.

Let’s hope so he would be a great signing in my opinion.
The good news is we no longer need to sign superstars to improve us enough to become a genuine top 4 team. We simply needs 3-4 competent NRL players to cover positions we are currently lacking.
Something like this team seems very achievable for 2027 and I think would no doubt be a top 4 team;

2. Turuva - Back up James Schiller
3. Averillo - Back up Max Feagai
4. Taylan May
5. Makasini - Back up Skelton or Sione Finau
6. Luai
7. Doueihi - Back up Jock Madden
8. Terrell May
9. Korisau
10. Pole
11. KPP
12. Samuela Fainu
13. Twal
14. Latu Fainu
15. Luciano Leilua or Kai O’Donnell (As suggested by one of our podcast crew Sam McIntyre would be even better. But I think he would cost more and he seems happy at the Cowboys)
16. Sione Fainu
17, Oregon Kaufusi (He seems on the outter at the Sharks and would be a good upgrade to our top 17 who would genuinely challenge for Pole’s starting position)

If we get Doueihi and Taylan May back real soon and we have no more long term injuries to our key players.
Samuela Fainu, Adam Doueihi and Taylan May are close to our best 3 players, we are doing well to win any games without them.

So the squad is both genuine Top 4 and missing the 8?
If there aren’t 4 better squads in this comp..I’ll walk from Sydney to Newcastle ,,.
We do not have a top 8 squad on 2026 unless we are 💯 injury free which we are not.
That should tell you that strengthening up in a few positions including our depth is vital if we are to improve enough tj become serious contenders in 2027.
He wasn't alone in missing Kiraz and for that miss he made it up with a dominant tackle on Sitili at the dying stages which likely results in a try. If his value out weighs his output and you can replace him with someone of lesser value fair enough but from my position he his depth that is much needed and his commitment to the club is good thing.
