Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I like Alex because he rips in and he has an excellent work ethic. Unfortunately, at times he's chaotic and it leads to crucial penalties and mistakes.

He's in the top 50 second rowers in 2026, so he's getting the job done, but he's far from elite.

If he can minimise those mistakes, I think he could crack the top 20.

Sorry brother, but how good is your maths?

Top 50? there are 17 teams - 2 per team as starters. That's 34 top grade second rowers. What does top 50 prove? that he belongs in reserve grade or at best on the bench?

Lol there's quite a few players on that list that are 10x better then Seyfarth

Yeah and hardly set the world on fire, after that many games he should be doing better then he is, he's in his prime. His form suggests hes just another average player, nothing special.

Also, he's behind Vostock and Farnworth for a reason. Hopefully it isn't form and something else, he might come good
Pretty crazy take. He was the first choice centre with Herbie prior to injury and was one of the Dolphins best.

Lol.

Alex was re-signed in '25 until '28, and I doubt it's for more than $400k p/y. So he fills a hole and a need in our roster and salary cap. Playing him off the bench in short spurts makes sense. Benji just needs to iron out his mistakes and cut down on the penalties and he'll crack the top 20.

It was only in the last couple of years that uneducated supporters on here were berating Twal, yet he's been going gangbusters.

He's now a top 10 lock.

Been hearing this about Seyfarth for 5-6 years now... still yet to see it & will be very surprised if it ever happens. That tackle attempt on Kiraz just sums him up.

On the Seyfarth topic, he is not a second rower and should not be considered as one.
Based on this weeks team selection I think Benji has finally woken up and realised it.
Seyfarth should only be considered as part of our middle forward rotation and like him or not he’s is a decent option to play 20-30mins each week off the bench until we can find a better option who will work as hard as he does in attack and defence.
If it was just about attack only we already have quite a few better than him for our top 17, but this is the NRL and we need players who are willing and fit enough to defend under fatigue.

Those two have the prototypical builds for an outside back these days.

We prefer the smaller stockier types for some reason

Was about to write the same thing, only you beat me to it. I remember very well all those that were giving Twal a serve, now the very same people love him.
Alex in my opinion goes ok, not the best player out there, but, and I stress not the worst in our group of players, why so much anger and banishment among forum members? Yes he has the odd error and some ill-discipline moments, but other players have their moments as well, Alex plays all heart, and loves the jumper, so maybe cut him some slack. After all he represents our club. I for one am sick of all the usual suspects that can't wait to give it to him, he tries his heart out, and by the sounds of it, he is very well liked by the majority of other players in our team, time to give it a break!

Coz Twal has reinvented himself, maybe Seyfarth could follow suit. There are a few things he could certainly change, firstly that loping running style doesn’t really work. Look at the way Twal runs now, hard and upright, can break a tackle or offload. Seyfarth looks like a teddy bear, but could be just as effective with the right focus on his physique and style.
He’s a goer but not a threat !

Watson confirmed to the Dragons for 27.
Guessing we did not go for him.

I am a little surprised that the Dragons can sign who they have been signing.
That said:
Drinkwater is a defensive liability.
Metcalfe is a decent half, but not a gun half. Still would rather drop Metcalfe into our side then Avelero

Watson is a good utility. I guess he is at the backend of his career. Wouldn't have done badly here but not a huge loss either.

Looks like a change in the Dragons recruitment strategy (maybe out of necessity). No more 1M offers to very good players, more going for middle.
