Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Myself....quite happy if we get Averillo

Not so sold on Folau...though you never know he maay surprise
Seems to be a fill in until Averillo gets here. For $1,000 a week and match payments, I don't really care if he is a dud. It's not like there's anyone else available and we have a massive injury list.

Folau won't be a world beater, but I think he can lock up an edge which is where we've had serious issues defensively.

Not a bad guy to stick at fullback if Bula goes down - he is elite in the air even now if you watch his highlights.

Someone here said it (medical)

T&T...isnt that what we gave Afoa and herbert?
That went well.

I know that automatically doesnt infer Folau will end up the same....but with this club it just seems so short-sighted///like the Mav geyer signing, just a waste of time and doesnt progress us at all imo
Head coach who is also head of recruitment. Can’t build a roster on his own

Another example of systemic failure.

But if it all falls over, they will blame benji, shaun and richo.... more names to the ever growing list of whose fault it is (the owners can do no wrong)

I don’t care whose fault it is … just that it never seems to end …I suspect there is plenty of blame to go around

Like I said earlier .., plenty of people keen to keep collecting the pay each month … Even Richo walked away with seven figures

I'm not a fan of the guys views, however the reality is we are lacking some real experience in the backline....and before everyone responds, i don't actually mean for him to play in first grade, rather as a sounding board and opposed session player to teach our young backs a thing or two about what it takes to be an elite player on the field.
Rather wed find a quality coach and or coaches for that

Knights copped a spoon & went out and got O’Sullivan who built the Phins roster which now has the most Origin representation and both teams are pushing top 4. Knights pathways are flying too. You need the best in these positions but costs $$$

Knights form reversal has been impressive to date … a lot of our fans seem to think you have to improve one ladder position a year ..:

I put a lot of their improvement down to the new coach though

Controversial code-hopper Israel Folau is eyeing a shock NRL return but it won’t be at the Wests Tigers.

This masthead understands Folau’s management recently reached out to the Tigers to test the Concord club’s appetite to sign the 37-year-old on a train-and-trial deal.

It’s believed the Tigers have not entertained the move but it’s understood that coach Benji Marshall was made aware of the approach.

It’s unknown whether Folau has approached any other NRL clubs in a bid to mount a stunning NRL comeback.

Folau has been playing rugby league for Urayasu D-Rocks in Japan’s League One Rugby competition since 2021.

The season, which officially ended on June 7, is just weeks before the NRL’s June 30 deadline - the cut off for when clubs can register players into their top 30 rosters for the season.

A fullback for the D-Rocks, Folau has scored 16 tries in 20 games for the Japanese club.

He also had a one-year stint in the English Super League with Catalans, playing 15 games in 2020.

Folau played a total of 91 games for both the Melbourne Storm, where he debuted as a 17-year old, and the Brisbane Broncos, but he has not played NRL since 2010.

The polarising figure defected to the AFL, joining then-fledgling GSW Giants on a rich four-year deal and making his Aussie Rules debut in 2012.

His foray into the AFL was short-lived, however, and Folau again switched codes - this time, linking with Super Rugby side the Waratahs.

The former NRL Dally M rookie of the year went on to earn 73 test caps for the Wallabies.

But in May 2019, Rugby Australia terminated his contract over a breach of his players’ code of conduct.

At the time, a three-person panel ruled that a number of controversial social media posts, including one suggesting sinners are destined for hell, amounted to a high-level breach of the players’ code of conduct.

Holbrook is a great coach. But they needed roster work too especially depth wise. Mooney, Saulo, Sandon Smith, Harrison Graham all good signings that can actually contribute to a squad when injuries strike.

If you dont care whose fault it is, then dont complain that it never ends.

The only way to stop the hemmoraging is for those accountable to take accountability and relevant action.

By focusing in on Richo, you are unintentionally deflecting from the core issue. Why did he walk away? Why have others walked away? Why is it the same song and dance with different scapegoats? Richo, Pascoe, Ivan, Madge etc etc. Do you not see the pattern here?

Back to the accountability piece.. The club was finally on the right trajectory. Then the board who played their part in this were sacked. We still dont know why. Fans have been abused by directors of certain factions on social media. We have been banned discussing it here. No one has been held accountable. The protection racket seems to extend beyond the debenture system.

Richo walked away , although he was smart enough to see he was well protected financially ..Ivan ran away to escape a massive problem he was chiefly responsible for .. … who else “walked away”? The others were all sacked and hung on collecting their inflated pay packets as long as they could

I actually liked Richo … he is genuinely the only person that tried to change things here .., he copped it eventually

if Benji is seriously being stymied in his attempts to rebuild the team to his liking … I am very surprised he puts up with it
