Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So your strategy is to keep doing the same thing over and over but are expecting different results?

Lets move onto our 9th coach in 14 years, that should do the trick! Even though madge and ivan - 6 premierships between them, couldnt do it.

Instead of calling out the obvious, lets continue to blame the scapegoats.

My strategy is to get better players to improve the squad ..

About time you have agreed with me.
I agree we should be trying to send Luai to Perth for a year as not only does it make managing our salary cap so much easier, but it would also make it so much easier to play and develop Latu Fainu in the halves alongside Adam Doueihi to really know if we can pin our hopes on Latu long term. Not forgetting we woukd still have Jock Madden and an emerging Javon Andrews as back up if it wasn’t working out.

No suprise you join in here.
Had time to find a list of games where Moses Suli has destroyed teams yet?

St George are signing good players and they don’t even have a coach signed up as yet for 2027
Cool, wonder why wests tigers cant do that? Could it be that the club and its owners are shit and everyone knows it?

Whilst we are spitting out random facts, madge, the coach we sacked, won a comp last year and won origin in 2024.

We are obviously a smart club making smart decisions.

Benji has done well to recruit & build the squad he has. But he is not a good coach & his record shows this. Just tell me how Foran has managed to lead Manly to the top 4 with Brooks, Simpkin, Feledy & Wakeham all playing regular footy for them. Players who contributed to spoons at WT's & were deemed not good enough by the club & its fans. He would be a good Head of Football or Head of Recruitment but a good coach he is not.
I think he’d make a great assistant so he can help rev the boys up and create a good atmosphere at the club while someone with more experience does the tactics

Are they trying to ? Do they have any money left ? We don’t know the answers … Averillo was the first player they have been linked with since the season started … now we got our second with Folau ( lol)… and Watson for his gap year

As I keep telling you he has been very dominant in attack against the very best of opponents quite often over the past 5 or 6 seasons. His slow lateral movement when defending is his big weakness and will only keep getting worse as he is getting older.
That aside he is clearly a far better centre than anyone currently on our books other than Taylan May.
Jake Averillo should he officially sign with us would appear to be a better option, particularly being a specialist right sided centre who can also be an injury cover option for other positions such as fullback.
This means Suli would only be considered as a backup option for us. I’d say almost every NRL club would be happy with him as a backup, but that will not be possible when he is rumoured to be on the Eels radar as their starting left centre.
I stated long before the season kicked off that right centre will be a major problem area for us. Unless you are watching our games blindfolded I’m sure you would now agree right centre has been a major problem area for us.

Some food for thought that I posted on a different thread, so apologies if you are seeing it again. Below is the average number of first grade games played by the teams that ran out last weekend. As you can see we are lowest, yet what really hit me was that Parra have arguably have many more players out injured than we do and they are above us in terms of experience. My take is we have players that will hopefully improve with more games under their belt and we need to get some depth players that actually have some NRL experience and not washed up like Bird, Bunty and co. So true second stringers that may have played 50+ games of first grade over maybe 5 or 6 years so perhaps mid 20's.

A few too many points here to address so I’ll concentrate on your first and last …

They should try to find a way to move Luai on next year to free up some money … Perth comes to mind to give them a bit of publicity for 2027..

I agree they need 4-6 players for near year … hopefully there is a plan because it’s likely rinse repeat otherwise
Cant see him wanting to.pack up everything and move to perth only to have to do.it all again 12 months later...to another country

Moving house sucks

You’ve nailed it mate. Fully fit we still have one of the youngest squads in the NRL, so when we lose players the inexperience is amplified.

Well .. he won’t be moving his stuff to PNG living in the compound … maybe he can just put it in storage a year early ? Maybe he’ll just leave it all in his house and move in one of the relos…

You would need the NRL to buy in and get this done somehow… could be a win for all parties … even him … he doesn’t look happy here any more

Correct he would not be interested and Benji and Shaun come across as being too nice to try and force him out.
It’s a problem as we should ideally be building towards being a real premiership force in 2028 and 2029, but a lot of that depends on who our halves will be and if we don’t give Latu every opportunity in 2027, we will be none the wiser as to whether or not he is our answer.

Who specifically are you referring to when you say "they"?
Like who in the club is responsible for it? I want names and positions.

Benji and Shaun being "too nice" to force him out isnt an issue.
The issue here is it takes three to tango...
WTs .
The player
..the new club.
He cant be forced to.do anything.
The interim.CEOs public persona wouldnt play a.part even if this dis become a thing
