Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There are secondary caps as well. Every contract falls under a salary cap from a million dollar first grader to a 13yr old on 2k
At the end of the day, if an emerging young player has star quality such as what we are hoping for with Makasini, they get elevated into the top 30.
If they are showing plenty of potential, but not quite of top 30 standard there is now 6 Development Contracts to be handed out each season.
If any team has more than 6 or 7 star young emerging players each season, they are doing very well and it’s inevitable that one or some may leave to look for better opportunities elsewhere.
If any club including ours cannot identify their best talent and are putting the wrong emerging players on Development or Top 30 contracts, they only have themselves to blame.
Successful Talent ID which also incorporates developing players, recruitment and retention and not overpaying players who cannot or will not live up to their price tags are the main contributors in what determines a clubs success.
The other factor what people generally overlook is that when you have a couple of top quality players that form the nucleus of your team, it is much easier to accommodate and cover for a few average to ordinary players in your team.
Do we honestly think the Panthers would be struggling at the moment if they had Tristan Hope playing 9 for them ? I would say it would make no difference to them whatsoever as they have the quality of players to surround average players and not expect them to do anything out of the ordinary.

having said that they have won alot more games then we have over the last 15 years....dont underestimate the joy fans get winning games and making finals...premierships are great, however a team that wins more than they lose is also nice.
Could not agree more Enz! I couldn’t give a toss if we won a premiership in the next 10 years, I’d simply love to just be in the mix once in a while.

This is such a silly comment. They are development players...identifying and signing them is only the first part.

You then need the resources that ensures they get the development they need. That requires money which then buys the resources.

Sitting here pontificating about theories is great and all, but you need a baseline of investment.

You don't take a 5 hour drive and only fill half the tank and walk the rest of the way because you'll always be the last one to arrive.

How did they get that team of quality players? How did they become quality players?

Much like we did with Jock, LL & co earlier in the year before injury rooted us.
