Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Even with our two best backrowers healthy we need 1-2 older experienced players , our nsw cup players just not up to the task
Not related to backrow, however I wonder if this was the thinking around the Izzy talk....Personal beliefs aside, from a footballing perspective he would be a great mentor for the likes of Makasini, and Saukuru. When you have had a weak first grade team for a number of years, with mercenaries coming and going, it makes it difficult to properly mentor your younger players. If players like Samuela and KPP stay for an extended time you will probably find that the younger backrowers develop better than they would without these types of guys in first grade.

Big $$ gap...Skelton about $275k..Luniu about $800k
Have no idea where we find those $$
One is underpaid...the other grossly overpaid for a career intechange player
Id rather keep our powder dry
Yep, good points. The cash... I suppose Star moving to MSE allows Avarillo onboard. Still, if the chat around moving a few others along comes into fruition, maybe the accounts dept can find some wiggle room and get Spencer on board. First thoughts are hes better than Blore, adds plenty. Interchange, yeah hes been that. We are pretty stacked at BR when healthy as well.... So 800 is steep. I mean if you buy the AMG E63, you gotta at least chirp the tyres every opportunity 😉

Its $600 per tyre, and I get little more than 10k out of em
If u buy em at the dealer much more expensive!
I brushed the dealer for quite a few years now..dont need "account managers"optimising their revenue, whilst apprentices do the actual work
..then u have to bring it back again !

Without Hunt, we need to add someone who can get us rolling forward in the same way - his 15-20 minute stints make a big difference. Spencer playing 30-40 minutes would be worth 700k off the bench rotatiing with one starting prop.

I wish Terrell would punch through the line and stop playing like Luai when he gets to the defence. Totally kills our forward momentum. If you could have him, Twal, Sione, Pole and Leniu all puching holes in the defence, we would have an amazing pack.

Haha so true with that brand.... the labour costs alone are eye watering. Im happy to chirp the Potenzas at around $300 a corner 😉

Averillo is good upgrade on To'a. Still does not help the depth at centre though.

Think we will need a creative solution there, maybe someone who you can give a spot in at 18/19 on a lowish wage who is primarily a centre but can cover the backline. Probably where Benji was thinking with Folou. I think they've missed a trick not giving Skelton some reps at centre in Cup, as he could cover it.

Sharks, Raiders, Knights and Bunnies seem to be flush with outside backs. The WTF podcast boys mentioned Daine Gagai who i would take in a heartbeat. Maybe Isiah Tass who has been leaptfrog at souths.

Doesn't help that the gap between the Super League and NRL is as wide as ever. Not much joy to be had there especially in the backs

Good point Enz. I haven't wanted to weigh into the Izzy stuff before. I'm not an expert by any stretch. Perhaps if he had softened his views in any way eg my beliefs about this are firm and well known, but I live in a pluralistic society that allows gay marriage, so I can understand if others have been hurt etc then it might be different. I'm not sure if he has done that. We have other players in the NRL that took a religion based stand against wearing a rainbow jersey, and they continue to play. My personal view is that you should keep your religious based views to yourself, and not try and impose them on others, but that's just me. Whatever their actual first grade output Benji has identified a need for experienced mentors, in especially the lower grades eg Patrick Herbert and the talk about Nick Cotric.
