Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I thought Tigers always rated Tupou. Yes he had some clangers in him (mostly handling if I recall correctly) but he was very young when he was here. Always had good carries in my opinion. He hasn’t kicked on at Phins or Chooks but I think he has potential from what I saw of him during his time here. I am ok with it for the right price and not top 30.
Agree. Also think he has built up a bit. Whether this does him any good remains to be seen.

If bennett couldn't get anything out of Schuster there's no way Marshall will, and Toupo leaves here, struggles at the dolphin, then same at Easts, so our genius of a coach think he's a must to get back here, any wonder we are a bottom 4 roster year after year
Benji must be a seriously good coach then having to manage a "bottom 4 roster"

Lot of IFS in our latest bunch of signings

Never a good sign if the word IF is the first thing you say about their signing
Averillo is a quality NRL signing. Tupou, Schuster and Dunster are relatively low cost. Every team has to balance the budget and fill out their rosters from the mid 25s to 30. Their is a lot of upside to their signings if they perform.

Benji not paying him anything to find out and how much did the Dolphins pay Tupou to discover they had better - it's called cap management.

Weve had a lot of very underwhelming players in our time...junior T is one if them...granted my memory aint the best but i dont remember him
My recollection is the club wanted to retain him at a certain price. The offer from Redcliffe was significantly larger from memory which the club was not prepared to match. The market seems to have corrected his value and if he is signed, it will be a figure the club is prepared to accept.

Cub ..think we missed the bottom 4 last year …just

Surely you aren’t too worried about Schuster ? He is a powerball ticket maybe …but he isn’t going cost the club much …
Not saying it is going to happen but Shuster was hyped up at a very young age. Sometimes experiencing what life is like after football (or the thing you wanted to do with your life) can be a powerful wake up call. His future is in his own hands, which is how I bet any athlete wants it to be.

People saying its only a KOE cup signing theres nothing to lose

This is our depth we are talking about....weve seen how poor that is this year, I think we should be treating our depth signings as important as our top grade signing.
Are these just names to make up a quota?
Schuster and Dunster are train and trial/NSW Cup.

Trying to get Tupou on development deal.

None of those would take up a top 30spot, but they add to depth with no obligation. I think it's a pretty smart way to operate.

If any of these guys prove they are better, then there is room to move them into the top 30. If not there are spots available to sign players if something pops up.

Not much out there at the moment, but always movement in the off season.
