Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tyrell S is proof that you wont teach them to tackle if they just didn't feel like it
The last two Dragons games I have watched, he has scored two scintillating tries through blinding pace. He took advantage of half chances and converted them into tries. The defence issue was also used when we had JAC at WTs. I think it is a pleasure to watch a player of his ability over the stereotypical winger - big, strong, makes yardage, good in the air but not overly quick.

Never thought id agree to Sloan but geez we need extra speed. Bula has not been a great threat with our current backline squad. I hope that some of our new signings can give him more opportunities to take up the attack.
How much would you pay him he's on fullback money at the dragons they over paid for him before Flanno arrived

Him and Lomax both received massive amounts

It’s funny how we have kept Javon Andrew’s under wraps in reserve grade/ Flegg to develop his game but threw Big Mac to the wolves. I guess injuries may have forced their hand a tad, but I would be sending him back to Flegg and tell him to have some fun.

I read the Dragons were not going to re-sign him. He is worth what the market is prepared to pay. Marshall imo has some pulling power when it comes to recruitment. It has the JAC scenario written all over it where if he heads to the Storm he will become a polished NRL player.

Tyrell Sloan will pick up a contract somewhere - a similar player to what Toa has been for us.
Both players that have a level of natural ability that fans from other clubs think will transform into something better at their own club because they are less triggered by their failings at the club they are at.

At 84kg and 6"1', Sloane, while fast, is a liability in defence. He's not built low to the ground like some other lightweights.

Needs 10kg of muscle to match it physically at his height.

no real IF with Averillo from what I can see.

Dunster/Tupou/Schuster... more iffy then service station Sushi.

The game these days is becoming decided by speed ( play the ball, defensive line up and back, and of course backline speed making breaks and scoring tries) and relentlessly going after the weak link(s) in the opposition ..

I’ll leave it to everyone to make their own judgments on how we are placed in these areas

Sloan is exactly the player we don’t need. If you complain about Bula or Toa and want Sloan I don’t know what to say. He’s got ability but zero desire.

Happy to watch our boys even while frustrating at times you can’t deny the effort. Haven’t seen that intent from us…ever! Sloan goes directly against this culture.

As for speed, Bula and Averillo are the real deal and May is no slouch. Doueihi also has some legs now that’s his knees are in good shape. Dunster also is pretty quick and Tupou also if we bring him back.

That is definitely incorrect, he would be 94kgs or heavier without a doubt.
He is a far bigger run threat than either Bula or Turuva, but he is a problematic defender.

What do you base that on?
I’ve seen him in person, he is very strongly built and he woukd be taller than 6”1 also.
I’m surprised someone like Wayne Bemnett has not tried to sign him as he is currently to a massive unfulfilled talent waiting to happen if the right coach gets hold of him.

Keely immediate switch to Storm. Would have been a great signing for us. We’re desperate for a middle forward with some pace. We have been for years, but instead we keep looking for project backs picked from obscurity.
No balance in our team whatsoever.
We need to find forwards with speed to cut back inside and threaten to make line breaks similar to what Dylan Lucas done to us yesterday.

Weren’t you saying 2 weeks ago that we didn’t need any forwards? 😂
What I said was we need decent outside backs much more urgently than we do forwards.
That has not changed at all, but if we want an all round balanced team that can score points and overcome a couple of injuries, we also need a couple of forwards.
Do you not agree that we are very limited with our attacking and line break threat within our forwards ?
We are no doubt a much better team when Samuela Fainu and KPP are both playing, but even they do not have what you would call explosive speed that is a major concern for our opponents.
A lot of criticism is being directed towards our halves poor decision making, particularly on our 5th tackle yesterday and while I agree it definitely needs to be much better, what were Api and Bula doing to contribute ? They take up a fair bit of our salary cap between them and form part of our spine, but are then voided of any blame when things go sour ?
I think both Sione Fainu and Tony Sukkar were among our better players yesterday and they were certainly not a reason we lost, but having a very slow forward pack in addition to an extremely slow backline is just so boring and predictable, I doubt Nathan Cleary or Sam Walker could do anything with them from an attacking point of view.
We have resorted tj being a team who’s only real attacking play is the high ball.
