Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Never thought id agree to Sloan but geez we need extra speed. Bula has not been a great threat with our current backline squad. I hope that some of our new signings can give him more opportunities to take up the attack.
Yea, I was like "Sloan" no way...

Then thinking about our backline:
Turuva can cross if given space..
Makasini is still very much a rookie.
Toa needs to go.

No harm intended.
You're countering with Internet Stats I pointed out aren't (and have never been) overly reliable.
Now I've cleared that up for you, I hope you can enjoy the rest of your night.
No harm done.

It looks like they are getting more accurate these days, but the internet has let us all down from time to time - I must say I clearly don't spend as much time as you scrutinizing it. Do you check this stuff a lot?.

In any case, seems like they have corrected Luke Brooks for you because he is not listed as 6 ft anymore as you claim - if he ever was. That is a positive.

Anyway, I was focusing on Sloan and his stats, but along the way it drifted to you appointing yourself as auditor of the integrity of online player measurements. Life takes strange turns.

Back to Sloan - fast ✅...defence ❌....yardage ❌...1 out of 3 is a fail.

I hope you can enjoy the rest of your night too.

Don't understand those against the Tupou signing, with Luke L going it's a like for like replacement and he's not a midget.

We lack depth and when we do get it people are against it? I don't get it.
Not against - but Luke had turned into a real weapon with the ball. We spent all that time developing him and just as he was ready, we let him go.

Maybe he was asking too much cash - maybe he wanted to play with his brother and we were'nt going to sign Kit?

Who knows...would have liked to keep him.

At 84kg and 6"1', Sloane, while fast, is a liability in defence. He's not built low to the ground like some other lightweights.

Needs 10kg of muscle to match it physically at his height.
You realise the problem...

Sloan puts on 10 kg's
There goes his Speed!

Now I get it, we need speed in our backline.
We also need grit.

Sloan wouldn't be a bad signing and would be an upgrade on Herbert, Tupou (coming here), Starford, even Skelton...

Still a downgrade on defense.

Yeah probably a bit, but he's still be quick.

Sloane would be the worst defender I’ve ever seen

Maybe a slight upgrade in attack but his defense is not worth the risk
The new rules favour attack, getting momentum and using the ball/speed when the opposition is under pressure/fatigue. The pendulum has swung a bit from defence to attack being more important now. It’s very hard to consistently defend yourself to a victory. You fatigue Doing that week after week. You need spark to be able to turn a game when the opportunity presents. See Dom Young yesterday. We need to be mindful of this in our future recruitment. It seems we’ve got the Message with the Avarillo signing.

The pile on on Makasini is over the top.

He’s an 18 year old playing injured. Shouldn’t be relied on but he’s there because we have no depth.

Judge him when he’s 21.
Makasini should not be playing first grade right now. We're doing hima huge disservice to be playing him at a level he's not yet ready for. And the only reason he's playing NRL is because our recruitment is so terrible we literally have no one else to play there

To be fair if Makasini had scored that try where Ponga ran him down and then held him down it would have been akin to the one they scored at the end. I don't think they were much better than us in attack and we were the better team overall..they just converted the single moment that we couldn't. Not really an xfactor thing that last try, just very lucky.
They were easily the better side all match. They were playing at no more than 50% of their ability, we were at 75% of ours, they looked dangerous but error prone. We looked about as threatening as a newborn kitten wrapped in cotton woll

They had a lot of pace in the backs, we had none. They had power in the forwards,we had plodders. We should have lost by 30
