Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Newcastle were happy to see the back of him when we signed him and they were not going well at the time. Tells you a bit
Yeah but I heard it wasn’t bcoz he couldn’t play more bcoz he couldn’t train. 🤷‍♂
I’ve also heard oldcastle selection is very political. Not how good you play but who you played for. I don’t know though just shite ya hear up this way. I reckon Cessnock had a seat at the table for a while.

What are you saying mate, our club has finally smartened up, could it be after all the pre-Christmas turmoil they stopped taking the D head pills and finally are making smart decisions, bloody Norah at last we cheer.
I loved Richo, however his "war chest" comments used to piss me off. Nobody needs to know our salary cap situation other than those that manage it.

Yes he is. There are many teams that don’t have great depth when injuries hit. Even Souths struggled big time last season because of it.

When you’re solely focused on one team more than the others you are going to see every weakness magnified and fall into the thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Sure our depth is not great, but to say it’s the worst in the comp by a long way is just an overreaction by a frustrated fan.

If we had 2 or more elite players in our backline (1-5) we could get away with 1 or 2 mediocre players in our team when injuries occur as the elite players quality usually shine at some stage of games, meaning the others just need to play their role, not expected to do anything special.
We have Taylan May who we all thought was close to the elite status, but after an injury riddled season we cannot be certain if he will get there anytime soon.
Bula is just Bula, very safe and has the speed to finish off line breaks and opportunities, but he is still nowhere near elite as he very rarely creates try scoring opportunities himself.
This means we virtually have nobody who coukd be called elite in our backline (1-5) therefore we cannot afford to carry any mediocre players even when injuries occur.
This is where we are disadvantaged with our current playing roster.

We beat good teams like the Warriors, Cowboys and the Knights quite comfortably with our best backline …even missing Luai at least one of those ..

The problem arises when we have a couple out and the backups are typically exposed

I actually agree here, we also lack that player who can turn the game on their own, AD is our closest, really and he wouldnt be in the top 20 probably for that. Really need to unearth a faalgo etc.

Our biggest weakness is we dont really have the class across the board to make up for a few injuries. We are heading that way though i think. Averillo helps with the backs need a morebile backrower to cover kpp and dozer

Any team can beat any team in the first six rounds. Wins against good teams from mid seasons on are the ones that show a team has something. We fall back n a big hole every year

Well… looking @The Chad later comments ..he won’t even respond to Opinion presented as Fact ..id hate for you to be missing out on his pearls of wisdom,
Not sure what your point really is meant to be. But to clarify, my opinion is that we have good depth in the backline next season. His was that I was wrong. I stated I wasn't surprised.

Then you asked if he was wrong. All I said was that it doesn't matter if I think he's right or wrong.

But if you want to continue the 'debate', he hasn't changed my opinion.

And that is ok. Believe whatever makes you happy in the end. Or whatever makes you unhappy in some cases.
