This is a rewrite of history. As usual.
It was that the chairman hired fulton without consulting anyone...then fulton came in like a bull at a gate and got people's noses out of joint.

I am no disagreeing g with you, but am simply pointing out it has nothing to do with lack of funding, it is simply Benji getting what he wants.

It makes you wonder why we didn’t action this a week ago to give us a chance of releasing him and getting a useful player in return before June 30.

Did Benji spend the entire week up the coast watching all the schoolboys matches? I sure hope not. But the club should have had at least 1 member of the recruitment team up there watching every match. Did we? Doubtful.
If we were top of the league Benji could do what he wants. Instead we're towards the bottom every year, and he cannot argue.
Is the plan to just use his money for sam and latu?
Or do we have someone else planned aswell?

Exactly and it was Sheens who lost his shit over it because his man McDonell lost his autonomy as recruitment manager.

I would assume we still have contacts and intel all over the country and in NZ including at the recent schoolboy championships.
But I agree it is fine to allow Benji full control of the rugby league department if we are getting good results, but questions need to be asked when our results are not good.
I don’t agree with a lot of things Benji does or decisions he makes, but I will say I fully support this recent decision to move Luai on ASAP and I’m pleased he was smart enough to realise lack of speed out wide was hurting us and he head hunted Jake Averillo to help fix it.
We need much more than that, but it would appear he is starting to pinpoint some of the areas that are holding us back and not allowing friendships formed to stand in the way of our club hopefully becoming successful.

True, something must have happened that has not been revealed.
We need quality cover at right centre and right wing, particularly when Averillo is also likely to be used as out back up fullback whenever Bula is out injured.

How did he play against the knights? I can't recall... I think he did sweet FA and Douhei steered the team around.. probably started there.
