Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Jacob Preston is a better player than Samuela Fainu.
Nothing wrong with Samuela and he will only get better, but Jacob Preston is fast becoming the best hole running edge second rower in the NRL.
A player like him is a dream for any half decent playmaker and if Lachie Galvin is good enough to put him through holes, players such as Javon Andrews and Latu Fainu could do it with their eyes closed.
I'd take Prestons over Sam any day of the the week. The only Fainu id keep is Sione (more bang for buck). Sam is over rated and injured every 5 minutes and Latu is injury prone too and can't tackle, so does this stupid speed hump maneuver tackle that is only going to lead to time on the sideline.

I recommend you keep searching X ..the solution is there somewhere ,..hiding in plain sight ..
Don't you mean The X Files, the truth is out there, I want to believe.

If this far-fetched idea on Lam has any legs, it would only be because Benji is moving to another position, football manager perhaps, but there's no way he gets shunted from the club.

Personally think it's a load of balls.

I heard a rumour too about Lam joining the club … doesn’t mean I believe it though … when it comes to social media , im certainly not a “where there is smoke there is fire “ type of person … too many people just completely making shit up…

I think something will be changing though …Benji clearly needs more experience in the coaching staff … i

He is a very smart man Adrian Lam, would make a great Coach, regardless of club.
The only coach who will succeed at the Tigers is a coach that can entice 6 quality players with him, move about 6 contracts on and convince the club to treble there yearly investment…And guess what, it not going to happen. So Lam, Arthurs and who ever will do no better than Benji.

We should have some money left I hope we haven’t already blown all of luaus money on those resigning, as we would be cooked. And if we offload hunt and someone like seyfarth we should have enough for preston

Haven’t kept up with Preston …he is contracted there next year ..is there talk they want to let him go early ? Thought they would keep him … if it’s for 2028 the WT should be having a crack ..if for no other reason then to drive the price up

It does my head in when you compare the quality and depth of our roster compared to at least 10 other clubs - before injury - and people are still convinced we are top 8.If anything the players exceeded expectation before suspension and injuries hit and now the reality of how vulnerable we are has made it harder to except.
There are players we need to keep and we need to bring others around them.

How you feeling about the roster next season ? Still a bit of work to be done .

Or KPP to the middle.
If we had 3 high quality back riwers it would be a luxury we have never had before and just simply have one of them playing 13 when we are full strength.
Hey V
My only concern with your suggestion is moving players from their best position doesn’t always work out.
I think they are all good edge forwards which is a 11 or 12 , I see in today’s game a 13 plays like a middle with a bit better ball skills
I wouldn’t want to change how any of them play now and moving them would do that.

Watching this year and seeing how it has affected
Sione Fainu
Latu Fainu
Turuva

Don’t get me wrong I think Preston is a top 2nd rower just think for the money we should be looking for a front rower specialist,
Leaving Sam & KPP as our edge forwards.

Would that be Dean Young.
Does anyone else scratch their head and wonder how St George have in the same market as the West Tigers recruited
the players they have and we have so far got Averillo 🤷‍♂️

I can’t disagree with anything you have said.
I just dont think a slow 13 with minimal ability to break a tackle or make a line break is contributing to our abysmal attack.
I think Benji is working off the theory that we are constantly struggling to win the yardage battle, so we have no choice other than to effectively play 3 bigger bodied middle forwards.
I think he might be missing the point that this really hinders us playing expansively and using speed and tackke break ability to stretch and worry our opponents.
I think Doueihi is well and truly capable of playing the type of 13 role we need on attack, but is he up to making more tackles when we are defending is the million dollar question?
And as good as an edge back row combination of Samuela and KPP showed they could be in tandem earlier this season, neither of them have the explosive speed of Jacob Preston.
If we were any chance of adding someone with explosive speed such as Jacob Preston or Tallis Duncan who is also currently available for 2028, I think we would be nad North do all we could to sign one of them and tinker with who would be better suited as a starting 13 out of KPP or Samuela.
