Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think they are thinking the Moses/Luai halves partnership will bring them success next season and in all honesty, I think it probably will. Luai paired with a real halfback that can control the game à la Cleary and he will probably play much better.

Plus, despite their low position on the ladder, Parra have mostly been competitive in games this season. Injuries have played a big part in their losses, not disinterest or lack of competitiveness like us. I’m sure they will finish above us next season, unless Luai causes internal distractions like he has with us. I can’t see that happening though, that’s just how our luck rolls.
The way things are going, they will probably be ahead of us by the end of THIS season.

Yep much like Garner
Very different -Teams like the Panthers can get value out of those types of Players. Was well documented at the time that Garner took a big pay cut to go to the Panthers.
Garnishing a rep level squad with the likes of LG and Seyfarth on 2-300k is every teams fantasy. Problem is, we don’t have a rep level squad, so we don’t get those blokes for that money - we pay closer to 500k… and therefore they’re our best 17.

It’s a vicious circle that can only be broken by high quality, low paid juniors coming through - hopefully a few at a time.

AD and Luai are both 5/8’s

Why wouldn’t you just move AD to his natural 6 position and bench Luai who’s leaving next year? As much as Douhei is a sook it’s a baffling decision by Benji
Once again showing how out of his depth he is. Not only that, but not to have any experienced heads around him to tell him that it’s the guy who’s leaving that you sacrifice at times like this.

Im not sure its as simple as sticking with the guy who is staying. There are a few variables here imo. If both AD and Luai could play the same positions im sure Benji would have moved Luai, but Luai is no lock. And the other one is, Benji has finally realised AD is a terrible half and the the clubs future lies with other playmakers.

Most of us had been very critical of AD up until about half way through last season. Epecially his defence which up to that time was woeful, I'd shudder whenever the opposition centres attacked his side.
He's also known to be a bit of hog, always wanting to be the hero in attack, butchering numerous tries.

However he has improved markedly in defence & has always been an above average goalkicker and has probably got the biggest boot in the team.
Unfortunately it seems that after his purple patch early start to the season it seems that he thinks he is an elite (though unorthodox ) halfback when most people wouldn't even call him an elite player.

Don't get me wrong, he is a very good player, however elite? I don't think so, he needs to be more consistent & have a better attacking skill set to hit "elite" status.

He certainly isn't taking the "team first" approach. His seniority in the team & the fact he's played alongside Benji shouldn't dictate team selection. AD needs a teaspoon of cement and harden the f____(censored) __up!!

Luai should have been benched. His role could have been determined depending on how the game unfolds. If it was him who walked out of training, it wouldn’t be a story.

It absolutely would be a story if Luai walked out, what are you talking about lol.

Look, im all for Luai being dropped, been saying it since he signed with PNG, but the decision to move AD to the bench to play lock is the smarter choice than leaving him in the halves

I honestly think Madden made him look a lot better than what he was early in the season.
When Maddens form dropped off a cliff, so did AD.
