Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hope Averillo isnt coming as a 6. Can we just play players where they regularly play instead of being too smart for ourselves and trying to reengineer the wheel. I totally get our halves are young but if we never put them in at 6 and 7 whats the point in a lower grade if we never use them. If we never use them how will we know of theyre upto it or if we need to bring other players in.
Tell that to every genius on the forum who wants to move Samuela into the middle despite the fact hes been the best backrower we've had since Gareth Ellis (not an exaggeration, we've had no good backrowers). The reason we, and everyone else rates him so highly is because of how well he's performed at BACKROW.

He may have played middle in juniors but thats because he was a much bigger body compared to his peers. Now that he's playing with other big bodies, his body shape, type and strength in his lower body makes him the absolute perfect athlete and body type to play on an edge. You wouldn't see Manly move Haumole into the middle or the Roosters move Cordner into the middle in his prime, but for some reason our fans want to make a positive into a negative. Then we wonder why players don't develop properly and excel at other clubs.

Definitely improves our depth. Get used to these sorts of signings this offseason I reckon.
St george able to purchase 6 NAME players for next season so far,
And there not finished yet.

And all are thinking they will definately be in the top portion of the comp.

We have purchased Averilo 1 name, and a few no names from COLES and are being tipped to be in the bottom 4.
NOTHINGS CHANGED.

If they’re going to change this they should just change it to the try scoring team kicking off. Should be black and white not an optional thing.

Might do something to slow the momentum shifts down which is where WT usually implode.
Why dont they fix the play the ball area, player playing the ball gets up really quick takes 1 or 2 steps to the right or left, nobody gets penalised for it.
Its called moving of the mark.

Then there's the markers, two all the time standing almost alongside eachother and you find once or twice in a full round the referee may call out marker not straight.

ITS A BLOODY JOKE.
that they bring in changes almost every season, why dont they just have the referees enforce the rules that already exist.

100%.

Royce Hunt likes to play first receiver when the lads play touch.

We should him at 5/8 and Douhei to prop.

Tito - You’ve done it again!

Brailey is a good signing. Perfect bench 14 for where we are at right now... 40 minutes off the bench (20mins at hooker to give Api a break and 20mins at lock for Twal).

The type of unselfish, experienced player we need who is willing to work hard and sacrifice for the team.
He was starting 13 for the Raiders in there worst period this year. Raiders fans happy to pack his bags. Newcastle turned a half into a hooker because Brailey was terrible, in fact Knights had the worst attack in which he was a key part of & he got dropped from that. You guys can spin this all you want but it’s a terrible addition. In saying that we seem to celebrate players who turn up to play because not all of our players do that. We had a chance to grab Connor Watson for a year, we had a chance to grab Dylan Walker for 2 years but didn’t.

I share your frustration but the heart of the revitalisation at the Dragons comes from the emergence of the young forwards.

Stewart, the Couchman Bros, Egan and even Damian Cook are all local juniors. The Illawarra has always been a prolific nursery. WTs needs to go harder in the Inner West, with any number of private and public schools producing youngsters who play both codes.

Looking at the proposed development player list posted by another member, it is extremely disappointing that not one player from the Inner West (Balmain and Wests Ashfield) junior areas have been awarded a development contract if that list is accurate. This is a matter which needs consideration since we have lost Conti, Kanaan etc.

Well, i welcome him to the club and wish him well.

I believe these guys have 5/6 dev spots …

Tavana
Taupau-Moors
Attard
Godinet
Havea Jr

With the last remaining, I’d try to get Suli Pole or give to Mikey Nassar.

I would really like Moors to get a bench spot if possible before the end of year play him 10-15 minutes in 2/3 games it would benefit him for the offseason

As someone who was critical of Hope …Im ok with this signing of Brailey ..although I hope they didn’t pay a lot …. This time next year, I’m expecting Haywood is the primary backup..

NRL experienced depth is good though …

Last night I saw a Canterbury player play the ball right on the Melbourne tryline while facing sideways. I not sure whether it was a trick play or poor play, but referee said all good here. Bet he would not if it was a Tiger or Saints player. The dogs scored a try in that play.
