Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Daily Tele Sports Confidential: The three Fainu brothers have failed in their bid to play for Fiji at the end of year World Cup.

The Tigers trio - Samuela, Sione and Latu Fainu – wanted to represent Fiji because of their grandmother.

However, a lack of record keeping has led to the International Rugby League rejecting their application.

“All three eligible for Tonga and NZ but believe they have Fijian heritage that they wish to honour,” said International Rugby League chair Troy Grant.

“Unfortunately they’ve been unable to establish with accredited records from Fiji.

“IRL have no issues with their application or desire to represent Fiji as it’s evident they have a genuine desire to play for Fiji and during heritage round recently flew both the Tongan and Fijian fags. The IRL has rigid eligibility criteria and have given them more time to provide credible documents to support their application.”

The trio were named in the Fiji 40-man preliminary squad last month alongside Mark Nawaqanitawase, Api Koroisau, Jahream Bula and Sunia Turuva,

At the right price, Tass would be an ideal depth centre & winger for us.

Daily Tele Sports Confidential: South Sydney have granted outside back Isaiah Tass permission to talk with rival clubs as they ramp up their bid to keep boom edge player Tallis Duncan.

It is understood that Tass has joined hooker Peter Mamouzelos in being told they are free to speak with other clubs despite the pair having 12 months left on their contracts.

Tass has recently returned to the field – playing in the past three NSW Cup games – after rupturing his ACL during an Indigenous off-season tournament in Queensland.

Tass, 26, has played 70 top grade games since making his debut for the Rabbitohs in 2022 while Mamouzelos has not featured in first grade since round 12.

The Rabbitohs need to make space to retain reborn fullback Matt Dufty while Jamie Humphreys is also without a deal for next season.

Seb Kris also available but looks in talks with Wahs

Warriors are circling Seb Kris from the Raiders whilst the Raiders have signed depth prop Lipoi Hopoi from the Dogs.
How about a halfback for the Wahs? They’re not winning a comp with TMM or Tanah Boyd, as good as he was at the start of the year. They need a Cleary type. Even Dearden. He won’t relocate to NZ though. They should throw the kitchen sink at Cleary for 28. If they signed him, they’d win a comp.

He’s the worst centre in the league by a fair distance.
