Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There was a good player for Souths in the 80's called Charlie Saab and he was full Lebanese.

I always assumed Jason Saab had Lebanese in him due to the name.

Saab is a traditional Lebanese surname.
He does have some Lebanese connection, I believe his real father was from either Sudan or Somalia, somewhere in Africa but his Step Dad is Lebanese.

In a recent interview he said he took on his Step Dad's surname and that he grew up in that Lebanese culture.

Paul Kent reckons sharks are in financial strife & are asking for NRL help

Can the NRL help us too plz
How can they just ask for help. They make the 8 every year and need to find a way to make it work. You can't just ask for help. We need all the help we can get.

With Shark park having the capacity of Pratten park certainly would not help your business plan.
It’s funny for a successful franchise for a long time they have always had financial woes. I thought they made a zillion from their land deal and were set for life. Hopefully they have to offload a few players…to us

The NRL will fold this club quicker than a set of cards if the Benji experiment fails in a few years FACT! There are countless expansion opportunities and Sydney has a number of successful clubs already I will make the call now if nothing changes before 2030 significantly they will put the club out of its misery, and rightfully so.

Not sure on that, they need a team to dominate the news cycles and generate headlines and we do that with our dis functional operation. Look at the Sharks they continue to win but can hardly draw a headline and are a organisation with very little profile out side the Shire. I think PVL is just interested in filling time slots to generate revenue, quality is not a concern.

Yes, that was the story Cronulla told as to their financial future.

Looks like Samuela is holding the club to ransom, and latu hasn’t earnt a pay rise yet. We are in big trouble
So what has he done , ask for more dollars for himself ( expected ) ask for his brother to be extended and on more money ( expected ) these are all what most thought would happen , if Sam want to hold us to ransom I think he will leave as that means the club and Benji mean zero to him and Latu , if it’s just money keeping them hear move on both , we can’t have this type crap , Sam is a gun yes 100% Latu so far has proved nothing be it limited chances in his natural position that’s on Benji but injury and what he has done is not much to warrant more dollars , Sam probably $ 750 k Latu $ 350/400 k going off potential , kid could be just made of glass who knows

I am pretty sure the NRL wants to wash its hands of this disaster and would have no problems doing so, they could handle a protest of a few thousand people ala SOUTHS. Money and success speak and once the Benji experiment fails they can then say all avenues were exhausted.

No...so off tap it aint funny

*We turned a profit a.year or so ago.
*Both suburban grounds are getting upgrades.
* Theres big plans to keep improving the pathways in the s/w..we won both regional comps in 16s and 18s.
*We make the NRL money

What makes you"pretty sure" the NRL wants to dump us?

We are are useless product and poorly run, the grounds can easily be used for other sporting/council commitments that guarantees nothing. In regards to making the NRL money we provide peanuts compared to what they could get from another franchise, again I hope I am wrong and it all turns around but don't be shocked if they get punted as they say winning changes everything but sadly this mob don't know how to do that. Relocation could work but the name is too tainted now for any region to want it sadly.
