I am pretty sure if a coach slapped a player during a match this weekend it would still be huge news
The clubs long term future and success will largely be determined by our own fans.
If we want to continues to turn our backs on the club in times of need and not support games away from Leichhardt Oval, it will jeopardise the clubs long term future.
How many supporters agree that the rapidly growing South-West is the clubs long term future, but do not back this up by attending games there?
In addition to this, it is vitally important we keep a strong connection and value both our Balmain District Junior Rugby League and our Macarthur and Group 6 districts to not only develop young players into our Wests Tigers teams, but ensure there is a visible connection between the players from these areas and our fans.
It is not rocket sciences to work out that when people have played with, know of, or have a connection with someone from their local area, they are more likely to support that team and/or want to go and watch them play.
Personally I believe we should be aiming towards a 50/50 split in home games between Leichardt and Campbelltown, particularly with the upcoming upgrades to both home grounds. I believe this is what the club ideally wants also, but it will fail if we continue to get miserable crowds to our Campbelltown games.
Obviously onfield success also plays a major part in this and this is where we need to be so much more careful and diligent t in our recruitment and retention, particularly on who we are spending big money on as we seem to not be learning from past mistakes and continue to prioritise and spend big money on players who are not genuine game breakers or match winners.
It is no secrets we need to overpay to recruit any high profile players and that is fine, I think we have overpaid Jake Averillo, but I don’t see it as a big problem as he has attributes and qualities that we currently do not have.
I know plenty of people are saying the reason for the recent dismal form from Jahream Bula and Terrell May is because they are playing injured. Let’s hope that is the case as if we they continue to under perform during the course of their big money contract extensions, we will be doomed because if it.
Not sure what we do about Api. I know he is a fan favourite and has given us great service, but he was always going to to be far less effective as he reached his mid thirties and he is now not even close to being effective for the full 80mins, not sure why Benji is not acknowledging this.

Well, you can always stop supporting the club / team and find someone else.
Some of us on this forum have only ever experienced lows with this club, as far as we can properly remember. Personally, I think I was about 11 y/o the last time we made the top 8.
It's very hard to stay optimistic when you have never enjoyed any kind of success as a supporter
I can appreciate the position of support another club etc but at the end of the day, people can become frustrated, and I could understand people in positions like myself becoming disinterested/supporting someone else.
If the club continues down this trajectory, 18 year olds in 2029 would have never experienced a top 8 in their entire life. What is the incentive for them to continue supporting the team?
The club needs to turn this around ASAP

It’s not on the supporters at all, we’ve sat through 15 years of failure. It’s on the ownership & board for running the club into the ground. I’ve never felt lower on where the club is going than now and it’s no suprise it’s when the same incompetent people are back making all the decisions again.

Exactly if the nrl really didn’t want us then they wouldn’t have helped get funding for Leichhardt

Will the Board examine if Campbelltown is the answer or, would a new home ground with HQ, retail and recreational facilities in Camden, Picton, Narellan or new Airport Precinct be better placed? Will the Board examine funding options for such a new proposal including privatisation of the club in the interests of supporters, the NRL and the Inner West and South West?

I am 80 years old now, raised both my sons wearing tigers uniforms,
And going to all the clubs games,
"all 3 grades".
But Now I am the only West Tiger supporter left in a family that grew up in the Balmain area, My eldest son married a Shark supporter and he gave up Tigers and is now a Shark supporter????.
My youngest son who cried after we won in 2005, got sick of waiting and married a Rooster supporter.
Now since about 2015 just totally lost all interest in the game and no longer gives a proverbial about the game.

Didn't they sell off all the land around the stadium to fund the development?
From my understanding, there's been major delays for there leagues club which is obviously the main financial driver them. It's nearly finished but they still need money to cover additional costs, which the bank told them no.
I think one of the few remaining assets they own is the stadium, which the NRL is looking to purchase. Assuming NRL clubs become very wealthy in the future, they can probably purchase it back of them at a later date.
The NRL needs 20 teams by 2029, otherwise they will in occur a $20 million penalty fee with the broadcasting rights so I don't see them letting a club go broke anytime soon. Also, I don't think its a good look for PVL if a Sydney team is kicked out. The AFL would have a field day with it.

So what are you saying, either the club gets sold to a private owner or it loses your support?
I could be wrong, but I don’t think the people making decisions are the same as they were 18 months ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago or 15 years ago.
As far as I am aware, the notorious Danny is the only one who possibly goes back that far and as far as I am aware he is generally not very involved in Wests Tigers decision making.
Everyone knows Benji has been given full control of all Wests Tigers related matters over the past couple of years, so if we are signing or re-signing the wrong players, selecting the wrong players in our NRL team etc, that is all on Benji, nobody else.
Some people like to blame whoever employed or extended Benji’s contract and I agree the decision to extend Benji’s contract is not looking like a very good decision at this point of time, but I recall it was roughly a 50/50 split on Wests Tigers supporters who agreed with the decision or did not agree with the decision when it was made.
You could say up ubtil Benji’s trusted lieutenant Jarome decided to up and leave, the playing roster was extremely united, the onfield performances were good and there was no criticism of Benji being in full control for an an extended timeframe at that time.
I'm not exactly sure, I heard about it on Paul Kents podcast on youtube. It's weird there isn't more talk about this. If it was the Tigers, it would be on the front page of the paper.

Disagree with your perspective. The NRL need teams for the young players to develop and older busted players to ease out to retire.
Someone has to lose. If they cared about the results then they would bring in a draft.

All of that is fair. But people need to calm down thinking we’re getting kicked out, or relocated because we are perennial losers. That’s emotion talking and not how things work. We aren’t a rich club, but we aren’t broke either. There’s no logical reason to believe that we on the verge of being kicked out. If we were going to, cracking the 8 wouldn’t save us.
