Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

doubt hornby leaves souths, he would likely take over from Bennett.
Not sure if Lam would want to come here just as an assistant
Agree, think both names have more appealing options if they stay put. No doubt the season review will identify such issues but then getting an appropriately experienced person who wants to work under Benji is the hard bit. Same as getting experienced NRL grade players, we are competing with 2 x new teams building squads as well as existing established clubs. Its always hard unless you are Roosters, Storm, Broncos.

What about Boyd Cordner from Roosters , been around for years in the roosters system , coached by a successful coach , I think he is one of the assistants now , was part of nsw blues coaching , very very good player and played in a position some of our guys could learn from , Robinson isn’t moving on and I think Robinson will be there for 3 to 5 more years as he is not old , Cordner would be a great get , defence and attitude coach , then Benji could bring his good mate over from NZ to help the half’s , a fresh idea - Shaun Johnson 2 days a week , heck we will let him stay at Benjis house the 2 nights , old mates sleep over , save some coin , Cordner full time with a promise that if Benji leaves or gets the sack it’s his job , just a thought ,

If we aren't having a dip at Liam Martin come November 1st we have rocks in our heads. I know we have Sam and KPP but assuming Sam is fit to play the rest of the year we have had either of them available a total of 28 (Sam 16, KPP 12,) games out of a possible 48. 58% of the time we have had either or both of our second rowers. If Sam is stalling as well we'll need to replace him. Get Martin and work the rest out later.

This PNG lineup is a house of cards for mine. Big names but will they deliver?

Alex Johnston = great finisher but at 33 and with 14 years of NRL under his belt by 2028, how long will his body hold up?

Brian To’o = has played a lot of football and is already showing signs of burnout. Is expected to make big meters every game which is taking its toll on his frame. Played horrible in SOO this year and lost his position. Has a lot of footy ahead of him this year with a GF run and a WC and then next year will be emotional as an era at Penrith concludes.

Joey Manu = won’t have played Rugby League since 2024. Will those 3 and a half years have undone a lot of his gameplay and conditioning? Look at RTS, best player in the Warriors club when he left and found it very hard to readjust just 2 years later. Took quite some time to hit form again.

Zac Lomax = See Joey Manu comments and add that this bloke is a mercenary who is unlikely to commit 100% to that club/region. He’ll find bonding with his teammates difficult I’d say as he pretty much will be a FIFO worker.

Connor Waston = He is a good signing who will likely commit and give his all. He will be 32 though and with his extensive history of injuries, could spend a lot of time in a pool rather than on the training paddock.

Matty Lees = He looks to be a great prospect. I’d question how he will handle the heat though. A Pommy playing in the engine room in Port Moresby will be a tough gig.

Jarome Luai = I’m not a fan. This guy is full of hot air and is not a leader. He is also not playing well and I’m sure that will continue in 2027. They are going to get a 31 year old who hasn’t been in form for 3 + years.

Add this to the fact that they will be living in Port Moresby - an absolute toilet of an unliveable city ranked near the top of the worlds most dangerous. They will be locked behind gated walls for their security which will harm them mentally and they will travel a lot.
Money doesn’t buy happiness. They will learn this lesson very quickly.
Agree with all this..even worse is Manu got carved up in Rugby by those huge Seff Effrikan centres
Astonished it took so long to work To o out...hes so vulnerable under the high ball against modern tall wingers
..and btw..Im not sure whether families will wanna live in PNG...schools/CGT on the family home if they live elsewhere/wife not happy...cant see it working for most

I wonder if Luai was involved in his recruitment? If so, and I suspect he was, it is a good reason why we got rid of him for seasons end. Cant have your captain recruiting for another club.
Absolutely...To o didnt feel the need to inspect ,so has his ears filled ith Luais sell
Which is a good reason to get him out of our club asap

I doubt any young aspiring coach thats done a significant apprenticeship under a quality experienced NRL coach/ coaches would want to.come and rake a step or 3 backwards in their career progression to work under Marshall
Hope.im wrong but all.i see is a rookie starting out wanting an.opportunity being the possible candidates

The ideal scenario for us is an experienced head who is happy to work in the background and not have to deal with the media.

Funnily enough this is the type of role Jason Taylor appears to be good at (I'm not advocating for him to come back so don't infer it.)

You wonder? Luia has publicly said he is part of PNG's recruitment team. The fact the NRL are allowing this is disgraceful. There will always be players who talk to other players about switching clubs, but to actively be part of another clubs recruitment team is unbelievable.

Thankfully that will be Parras problem in a month or so. Lets hope he does not do any further damage to the WT on his way out.

I often wonder if we are the only club fan base that puts so much thought and importance on who our assistant coaches are. Maybe all other club fans are the same,im not sure. If not, it highlights what our real issue with the coaching is.

I feel West Tigers end is coming very soon,
HBG signed our coach Benji till 2030,
WHY.
most current players signed till 2030,
WHY.
And the NRL renewal date is 2030

I see a big push by HBG in the meantime to make West Tigers look as bad as they can,
In the meantime buy out the last 10% of the Balmain shares

Other clubs are all busy setting up players for the future,
Whilst it seems we are being provided very little from HBG.

Toby Crosby just signed with super league, can't believe tigers didn't go after him, great potential and could have gotten him for minimum wage....
I think we must consider that the tigers did go after him and every other player off contract in position we need , what we are not mentioning is the fact we look like crap again so who wants to come hear , the team is broken , down on spirit , down on aggression , down on pride , who comes to join us , Alverillo probably signed when we were going ok early on , haven’t heard any other player signing since we went to crap , maybe everyone is steering clear again and the only ones we will get are the ones wanting a payday to retirement , the ones we get later when their current clubs says you can piss off now in the off season , even big Sam F hasn’t signed , and he is already at the club , that should send a warning of things to come , and even if we announce Brailey today he is reserve grade from raiders , it’s not Mosses Leota signs with wests tigers

They might be doing us all a huge favour. I've had enough of supporting this craphole of a club
