Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The problem is it's lean pickings out there. With new teams coming in, the fight for these players will only get harder.

Also see Cody Walker may look elsewhere if he can't get a deal done at Souths. Again, would be good for a year to help our young halves.
Can Cody play 7 we don't need anymore 6s

Yes and as I keep saying lack of speed, both out wide and in the forwards was a big contributor for those poor results.
You need someone who can carry the ball at speed and be a genuine line break threat in the middle or on the edges, we just think we can rely on power to trample opponents which only ever happens from Samuela on occasions, Pole on occasions and Royce Hunt on occasions.
KP when playing helps with his size, speed and offload ability, but we need him running onto the ball at speed like he was doing early in the season. He had already fallen slightly into plodder mode shortly before his season ending injury.
I think you are a bit harsh on KPP,
Don’t forget he was playing outside Doueihi so I could imagine he would have been thinking “hear comes another dummy”
I agree we need more speed in the backline,
if fully fit and available our forwards will be competitive against most teams.
IMO our backline is our major issue

I’m very happy we have KPP playing for us.
Defensively he is very smart and very good, our right hand defence suffered significantly without him and he is also a very good attacking player when his mind is on the job, but he was prone to having a few games where all his runs were half hearted when at the Knights and we have to hope that doesn’t start happening with us.
💯 agree our backline is our major issue.
I think we are getting much closer to fixing that problem by adding the speed and class of Averillo, Junior Tupou returning and looking like he will continue to improve, we would hope and expect Makasini will be a much improved player next season and I think there were plenty of positives with the NRL experience and progression of Solo Saukuru should we keep him.
I believe we need two more classy outside backs with speed and genuine attacking ability to be genuine NRL starting player contenders and if we do that we can go from a well below par backline to an above average backline.

We need more classy outside backs …so we don’t need to play your man Solo until his defence is up to NRL standards

I don’t get the Moussa hate… he’s normally got a very low injury rate . Like when we had the former sharks s and c guy we had something like 48 players used those years . What’s your issue ?
I don’t like how our players always look small and a bit undersized or overweight, teams like the dragons a few years back all came back looking like they had bulked up

Part of me thinks maybe our best bet is to go all-in on 6 Javon Andrews 7 Latu Fainu with an experienced 13 to help them with direction & leadership. This could be a rotational combo of Doeuihi with Kurt Mann.

If AD departs, then bring in O'Sullivan as another experienced back-up half along with Madden to be a mentor as well. Then have a lock rotation of Mann/Twal/Seyfarth/Brailey.
It's becoming a long bench.
Brailey is a must for one spot to rest Api. Three more spots available. Prop, backline, halves?
Doueihi on the bench for covering a number of positions as maybe needed.
Then we need some muscle, strength and stamina on the bench.
Two strong workhorse forwards rotation. Bench filled.

Black is ..gone!!!Hes probably a million dollar player end 27
Our halves are a mess
Latu pomising but fragile and unproven
Javon looks too small ..our job o bulk him up..see what hes got
Madden limited,and a defensive liabilty
Douhie..all said already
I would love to see Maddens defensive stats. Even compared to Luai's.
He seems to do a lot of defensive work to me. And still game manages.

👍
Averillo and May hopefully being our starting centre pairing im happy with, my concern with Skelton,Tupou,Maka & Solo is although they have good size they are all very slow not only in attacking situations but even more in defence if they have to turn and chase they are left for dead.
I’m with you we need to buy some genuine speedy wingers.
I would have given Tyrell Sloan an offer, imo his defence is the same as our 4 mentioned but he is a lot more dangerous in attack than them with speed to burn.
Anyway we are all experts from the lounge chair 😂

There are 3 standout options as depth and potential NRL starting player currently available in my opinion - Sebastian Kris, James Schiller, Jaylan De Groot and if we could not land 2 of those for whatever reason, we could opt for the experienced Adam Pompey.
Pompey also lacks pace, but he is a very experienced NRL centre who also plays well with good size, height and aerial ability on the wing.
Storm, Cowboys, Titans, Bullldogs, Eels and Dragons are all also looking to improve their outside back options, so the players I named above will not last long on the open market.

Kris is reliable.
De Groot I haven’t seen much of.
Schiller depends who turns up on the day,
Have seen him look very good
BUT
Also seen him have some absolute shockers

I would imagine they are all quicker than what we have now.

All 3 are well above average in the pace department.
Schiller now in his mid twenties is a potential NRL star who has so far let himself down with too many brain explosions and defensive lapses.
I know many of our fans will say we don’t need any more players who have brain explosions and defensive lapses.
That is true, but if you get the right version of him, he is an absolute weapon with height, speed, athleticism, strength, aggression and skill.

That's the key, Doueihi is told his position going forward is lock/centre or back up half only if injuries hit, if he doesn't like it then he will want a release.

Then granted but no freight or stay and play where you're told.
Sorry RHS ....but it drives me crazy with the amount of people who suggest Doueihi as a lock ......his defence is crap for starters ....defence is the most important thing in NRL

Every NRL team who are doing well have a 13 who significantly adds to their teams attack.
Currently we have Twal or Seyfarth playing 13 who both do their best in that position, but they are plodders who are no attacking threat to the opposition and this plays a big part in why our attack is often so dull and boring.
We do not currently have anyone who can play 13 who can defend strongly and be an attacking threat and there is antibody available to recruit who do both well either.
So the best we can hope for should be using two players in the 13 role, one starting who is a strong defender then being replaced or changing position to prop at around the 20 minute mark, allowing us to bring on a player with much more of attacking threat in the 13 role.
Adam Doueihi fits the description with his size and strong ball carrying ability, but has a question mark on his defensive ability.
He has very rarely and I don’t think ever in Wests Tigers colours had the luxury of coming on after 20mins, so you would think being fresh would assist him in defending much better and defending in the middle might come easier to him as most of his defensive stuff ups have been due to arm grabbing when struggling with his lateral movement.
Everyone has their own opinion and we may or may not ever het a chance to see if it would work or not.
