Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I cant make sense of what you have said.
I suggested letting go of douhei and bringing in qld halfback to dearden.
Dearden would be great, but we don’t have a spare 1.5 million per season to get him,
Some people are suggesting it’s ok to have props or defensive minded players playing 13 for the full 80mins each week.
I’m sure these same people must have missed watching how boring and poor our attack was for a good portion of the 2026 season,

No one is even saying that

Riccio thinks Frizz to WT will eventuate
Since there are virtually no other forward recruitment options I available don’t mind it for 2027 providing we are not paying him too much,
But, I’d say it’s fairly certain if we do sign him it will be for 2027 and 2028 and I can see it becoming an issue in 2028 if his form does not warrant a spot in our top 17.

To replace him at what position?
At 7? Maybe O'Sullivan. And/or extend Madden as backup to Latu and Andrews.

At 13? We need a genuine 13.
I'd play Doueihi in the centres.

No disrespect to O'Sullivan but he has never consistently held down a 7 position at any club. he has played with. Why would he at WTs?

Twal performs well at WTs in the 13. If Hamish Stewart was available, I'd buy him.

Someone who can master one position for starters , someone that doesn't have a hissy fit when the coach tries something different , someone that has more pros than cons
You need to take the emotion out of it. What happened wasn't ideal, but a player who can play a number of positions with his size and pace is an asset.

Doueihi hasn't held down 7 for more than a couple of years, long enough to show we need a better one.

Twal has a big engine and is a rock in defence, but doesn’t have the ball skills of a genuine 13.

Need the leadership & depth

Twal was one of our best this year. He was great in both defence and attack. Set up royce hunt for a 40m try.

But he isn't a stand out in any position

Would take his goal kicking and that's it

And theirs no emotion attached .....he is very injury prone , and has more cons than pros as a footballer in any position he has been tried at

And the WTs have tried him at many positions

Failed at 1 , Failed in the centres , failed in the halves , failed and doesn't want to play at lock

I wouldn't say he failed in any of those positions... he just isnt a world beater in them.

I did write I'd play Doueihi in the centres. At the start of the year our side did well with him in the team. Imo is in our starting 13.
