Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What about Dearden .

Rumoured to be relocating to Sydney next year

Braith said on 360 that despite denials he heard that Deardens manager was shopping him to Sydney Clubs as early as April this year .

There’d only be a very few Sydney clubs that could fit him without a significant swap the other way .

It also might make some sense for getting Luai out early
He's on 12.5 percent of the cap that's his contract at the Cowboys with ratchet so big big $$$

With all due respect I could go on a podcast and say I know a guy who doesn’t say much but he said we have signed a half for next year and we are gonna be happy.
Unless a halfback is asking for a release out there then any halfback who is off contract in 2027 is kinda poo!

Yep if we are going to be happy it would have to be either Dearden or Sam Walker and both are way out of our price range, so I’m not overly excited about a potential halfback signing.

but on that pod , the mail lines up with what braith and ready also mentioned on 360

club has been offered a half for next year

no mail from me on it besides i heard blaize was someone of interest a few weeks back

- conti (just resigned)
- milford (hostplus)
- manu (1 year stint at 6)
- josh rodgers (released by broncos)
- jamie humphreys
- jonah glover (told he can go)
- kyle flanagan
- brimson at 6

a very tigers signing would be anthony milford 🥲

My tip is Illias

If it ends up being Kyle Flanagan I’m leaving the country. It would be one step closer to getting Flanagan senior onboard as coach when Benji gets the flick next season. Isaac Moses would love that and we’d have our very own Temu version of the Clearys, who took St George to such great heights this season.

Any decent player is out of our price range but the Roosters have a team filled with state of origin players and they are rumoured to sign Herbie Farnworth, Sam Walker etc. Maybe we need to sign a more creative accountant.
Or get one of our billionaire supporters (Harry or Arthur Laundy) to make a genuine bid for the club. That's why Easts, Souths and Storm and Broncos just get the players they want. Nothing to do with the salary cap. It's payments made outside the cap that makes the wealthy clubs strong.

And board members with connections, life after footy benefits you see it with basically the entire fox panel ex roosters

This is a little left field, however, Ellery Hanley's (The Black Pearl) son Umyla is turning into a Super League superstar.

He was named as part of the 2025 Super League Dream Team.

His stats for 2026 are:
  • Appearances: 16 matches
  • Tries: 10
  • Try Assists: 10
  • Carries: 220
  • Metres Gained: 1,530
  • Average Gain: 7.95 per carry
  • Clean Breaks: 12
  • Tackle Busts: 63
  • Offloads: 17
  • Tackle Efficiency: 88.27%

I got a picture with Eellery many years ago , he was a great player and a good sport , as he stoped and had a chat with me and my son

It always boggles my mind. People excuse the discrepancies by saying oh the Roosters are just so good at managing their cap compared to most other teams blah blah. And maybe they are to an extent, but honestly it just doesn’t add up.

You can’t tell me most of the ‘superstars’ in that team are playing for the love of the jersey only. The money is coming from somewhere and yet they can ALWAYS afford to fit in more top line players. Whereas us and some other clubs with lesser rosters are in danger of breaking the cap when we sign a couple of fringe first graders!

That's brilliant. I'm sure most know that Ellery played for both Balmain and Wests.

I think his son would be a great signing for us, and maybe the Black Pearl himself could even help mentor our backs. He coached for four years with a great win record.

I would still not be paying him anymore than 350 - 400k maximum.
The form of a 35y.o, turning 36y.o forward can decline very quickly, so we would be very silly to overspend.
The good win by the Knights last night probably didn’t help our chances of signing him as I doubt the Knights can win the premiership this season, but the deeper they go will make them believe they are getting closer and I would assume he (Frizell) would be very keen to go around with them for another season to find out.
Brother remember when you were raving about drinkwater being 100x the player bula is... did you see him single handedly steer the cowboys out of the semi finals? For all his attacking prowess, he is a MASSIVE liability.
